The "refund" she received is due to a provision in Obama care that says an insurance company cannot charge more than a certain percentage of the premium for "administrative" costs. My wife got a small refund as well from UHC...Looks like Aetna tacked on a lot of their "administrative" costs onto subscriber's premiums...Not to worry though, as soon as Obamacare kicks in, costs will rise..

Costs have always risen. What did you pay for health insurance 10 or 20 years ago as opposed to today ? Hopefully, this will reign in those excessive charges that are hurting consumers.

Bmac, I forgot to mention. How many times over the past 20 years has your insurance premium NOT risen ? Rising insurance premiums are one of the reasons for the AHCA.

The CPI has NOT yet been changes for Social Security. It is one of the areas that Obama appears to be caving on to appease the Republicans. As I said before, if this occurs, he will lose my support.

That's a bad way to cheat the people who have made this country great. Lyndon Johnson was the one who started the rape of the social security system and no one has stopped it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for reading over a third of the postings for this topic. For the record, I am naturally curious about things some feel MUST be kept hidden. Btw, Romney should have come forward with all his overseas financials too.

You are correct KW, health insurance premiums have continuously and consistently gone up, and yes one of the reasons politicians told us to support the Affordable Health Care Act was that premiums would go down. Well, with the possible exception of your wife, those premiums have gone up and most, if not all, predictions are they will continue to go up. By the way, a 5,000 deductible, as you state your wife has, seems rather high.

The AHCA was a fraud perpetrated on the America public accomplished by pandering and promoting a bill the proponents had not even bothered to read due to it's ponderous enormity and complexity. It was rushed thru with little or no foresight, and will and has created a jungle of lawsuits resulting in lining the pockets of attorneys (aka politicians) with taxpayer monies.

Other than that, it's a fine law, and as Nancy Pelosi brilliantly predicted, we are still discovering the gems contained within it. Just my opinion. 8-)

I double checked and her deductible was in fact $5000. It was high in order to keep the ridiculous premiums to a manageable level. She is not the only one to get a refund. If you read the link that I submitted you would see that $1.1 billion in rebates was sent out the first year by the insurance companies. Since she only received a $176 rebate it appears that she was not alone.
I was selling health insurance in 1986 when a family of four had their premium break $100 month for the first time. We thought that no one would be able to afford it. The increases since then put health insurance on an unsustainable trajectory and set the stage for the AHCA.
The insurance companies and their allies have put out a great deal of propaganda and outright lies (death panels) to try to deceive the public. And, they have succeeded. I believe that in a few years, when all of the kinks are worked out, the American public will come to see the benefits.

Some insurance companies tacked on higher costs for "administrative" costs than others do. Your carrier is one of the higher ones. Most everyone got a refund last year. That may not happen again this year as rates were adjusted by all carriers. That said, as other facets of Obamacare come online, we will see costs increase. The CBO has already revised their projections upward as to costs. I think the costs will continue to rise & I think this is a calculated move on the part of the Administration in hopes that enough people will complain in hopes of installing a "one payer" system like the UK has. If that comes to pass, we won't have high Health insurance costs, but we certainly will have high taxes to cover those costs. As for the "Death panels", do you really think that either insurance companies or the Government will pay for extremely high cost "experimental" procedures in order to "possibly" save an individuals life?....I hardly think so. As it is, the costs associated with a huge influx of "Preventative" care, that will in most cases be a waste of money, will cause the insurance companies to rethink their approval of Obamacare...Will there be benefits from Obamacare?, I'm sure their will be but the $64,000 question though is will they be enough to offset the costs of the aforesaid...

The question of Obama buying votes is not a matter of opinion. Opinion is judgment; either he is doing it, or he is not. If he is not, you are slandering the man. You want to substitute your opinions in matters of fact. When you do this in a manner that harms the person, outside the realm of politics, you are open for charges of libel. If you cannot back it up, why post it? legally you have the right to say with a straight face that 2=2=3, provided it is not slander or libel, but why do that? And just in case you didn't know, on this forum I have the right to expose your mendacity.

Slander is any defamation that is spoken and heard.
Libel is any Defamation that can be seen, such as a writing.
It helps to know what you are talking about.

[quote=TrainNut]Donald Trump Offers $5 Million For Obama's College Transcripts.

Can anyone please give me a "good" reason why Obama would want to cover up his collage records? I know all the reasons people have to hide their past, but why won't someone come forward with information?[/quote

To hide his Foreign Exchange Student status !!!

Healthcare costs under Obama have indeed increased, but not at the rate they did previously.

He owes it to the country to let us know. Every other president has.

This keeps being said in this thread, and it is false. Past Presidents have not given permission to have their college transcripts released, and it would be illegal for anyone affiliated with their colleges to release any information about any student without that student's permission. Before you site George Bush's release of his transcripts, they were not released, but someone illegally leaked them.

You are right and I was wrong when I wrote that.
It was addressed earlier in the thread.
Why do they all want to cover up their college transcripts?
They all have something to hide.

If that's the case... then I suggest they make that a priority in running for Office of President. We should know whether they are DUMB or STUPID or LAZY .... uumm.. Seems like Obama fits all three..
