Folks, got to photograph Nashville's fireworks from the 6th floor of the Baptist Hospital Parking Garage which is about 2-3 miles away last night. Shot on my old Sony H9 point and shoot which is about 8 years old and still clicking. My wife and I attended this event with about 40 other photographers from the Nashville Photography Club.
Excerpt from the "Tennessean" newspaper:
Nashville, TN, Music City's July 4th "Let Freedom Sing", Choreographed to music played by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, ran 27 minutes, making it the longest fireworks display in Nashville's history. Pyro Shows of Tennessee lit up the skies with over 30,000 fireworks and special effects, carefully scripted with the live symphony. The display was fired from LP Field, setting the stage for Nashville's most spectacular fireworks show to-date, and the largest display in the South.

These are a bit deceiving Linda. The fireworks are shot from the east bank of the Cumberland River (which is just beyond the buildings). Our group was a couple miles away shooting across the downtown skyline.

I had a hard time keeping up Bob, was shooting with 2.5 second exposures, then the camera took another 3 seconds or so to process them after each exposure. I just simply kept shooting successive exposers and hoped for the best.
They came out better than I expected.

Just great shot. Hope it was a lot of fun too with the group from the club. Sounds like it was taking over 5 seconds to get a shot so, it's a good thing that it was a long enough show. Maybe I can join ya'll next time.

Was a great time Regis...several folks brought lots of food and drinks. It was an amazing sight to see, not only the fireworks, but there were 10-15 photographers lined up on the floor above us, 10-15 on our level, and 10-15 on the level below us. This was a much easier place than trying to set up in the crowd downtown. Heard on TV this morning they had 215,000 people in the immediate riverfront area of downtown. But sure, come on and join us next year. You don't have to be a member to shoot from this location. I saw lots of photographers that aren't in the club. We listened to the Nashville Symphony over 103.3FM on the radio. They started the show by reciting Abraham Lincolns "Gettysburg Address"...was a very moving and heartfelt moment.
