Newest Quinapiac Poll shows that 92% of Americans support background checks to purchase firearms.
If you don't, you are in a tiny minority unless of course you're a Congressman that's afraid of the big bad NRA or just a criminal or nut that wants a gun.

I'm not understanding this. They already have
background checks. Correct? What they don't do is check to see how many
people are on anti-deppressant drugs. Most of the people doing crazy stuff are on them.

You're exactly right. There are already background checks in place, but some tend to ignore that fact. It's sort of a moot talking point by those who have no other bullets for their argumentative gun, so to speak!
What would be nice is a background check before a person votes....a drivers license would do nicely!

If you want to drive a car you cannot get a license if you have certain miladies. Other than a criminal record what can disqualify you from buying a AR15?

And are you naive enough to think that people who can not or do not qualify to drive a car don't? Let me educate you, having some years as a police officer I or any other law enforcement person can tell you, a good portion of drivers pulled over have no licence, a suspended licence and many have no insurance.
The point I am making is that you can make all the laws you wish and the people who don't obey the laws will continue to do as they wish.
I'm sure that you have heard this argument before, but the liberal desire to disarm america is so strong that common sense or facts make no difference to you. Your gun laws only affect those people who would obey the law in the first place, therefore you wish to disarm the law abiding citizens of America. I can't see any other true desire on the liberal people of this country. You know that the criminals will always have guns, it is the honest law abiding people you target.

Actually, according to the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act a background check is not needed if the seller does not rely on gun sales as the principal method of obtaining their livelihood. Some states have regulations that require a background check regardless of the act but most don’t.

Now nakkh..... I went in to renew my license a month ago... the test was written and driving..... I was handed a paper which was the same as my 16yr old Granddaughter had to fill out....I know because we both got a copy of it...

There was a place there that asked if I took any Illegal Drugs.. And a place that asked if I was being treated by a Psychiatrist.... I answered "Truthfully" NO to both and that was it... I had been checked over and found able to take my driving test and get my license renewed...

The bigger question is: Why in the world do you need an AR15? So you can go duck hunting or human hunting?

The biggest question is, why is it your business, and why do you care what anyone else does legally? Oh I forgot, the only thing that is legal or correct is what you believe. Yeah, right.

Another question: Why do you see a need to comment on this post?

Your answer also applies to your AR15 question.

Bingo! When you cannot answer a question intelligently and with facts, you avoid and change the subject.

Actually the AR15 is used by several people to hunt mid sized animals like wolves that are threatening ranchers animals and/or residential areas.

The "background checks" referred to are "universal background checks" - which simply means no more gun show and private sales without background checks. It is still easy in most states to buy a weapon without a background check.

And the comments about anti-depressant drugs are wrong - probably most of the crazy shooters SHOULD be on antidepressant drugs, though.
