One Hummer

Was met at the gate as I was leaving by the hummingbird. It was just hovering above the gate then went around me to the garden. I made a quick U-turn and got a few shots before it departed!

Dave - a great catch - do you see many different types of hummingbirds in Washington? Just 1 here in NJ and somewhat difficult to find.

Can you tell me camera - settings & lens?

Thank you. Canon 7D, Canon 300MM F4 IS Lens, ISO 400, F6.3 at 1/640Sec.

Thanks for the info. The 300mm is turning into my favorite lens - with a full frame sensor I do resort to using a 1.4 extender which approaches the reach you have with the 7D. And the extender doesn't really diminish the IQ noticebly.

A lot of my shots are so close that if I use my 1.4 extender it cuts off part of the wildlife!
