Mr. Obama rants on and on: "the science is settled. 97% of climate scientists agree..."
Read this article and tell me the science is "settled":
http://joannenova.com.au/2014/06/big-news-viii-new-solar-model-predicts-imminent-global-cooling/Key passage:
"There have been three big, steep falls in solar radiation in the last 400 years.
The first was in the 1600s. It led to the depths of the Little Ice Age, and the Maunder Minimum. This was the coldest period during the last 400 years. There used to be fairs on the ice in the Thames River in London, because it would freeze over for weeks at a time.
The second fall is around the time of Napoleon and it preceded the second coldest period in the last 400 years, called the Dalton Minimum.
The third fall occurred recently, starting in about 2004. This recent fall is as big as the fall in Napoleons time, almost as large as the fall in the 1600s, and it seems to be steeper than either of those falls. But the temperature hasnt fallen
yet."
The subject looks incredibly complex to me.
Be sure to read Para 4 that discusses how the solar model diverges from the CO2 models over the next 10 years.
Note: I picked England because of their wine production in the Medieval Warm Period...and the fact that the English have hamstrung their current energy production following the wind/solar scheme.
Very interesting. I agree, the subject is extremely complex so anyone claiming to know absolutely what is going to occur is just blowing smoke into the mirror.
Dave,
This is a really interesting post. It seems to be written in the true spirit of scientific inquiry without being dogmatic, as so many are when it comes to Global Warming issues. I am reading your post several days after it first posted, and noticed that only a single Hedge-Hogger chose to comment on it. I think because of the subjects technical nature, people might shy away from having to do some studious reading (and learning) in order to comment on the thread. It is much easier to hurl one-liner sound bytes or insults on some of our more "touchy" subjects like gun control, capitalism vs. socialism, etc...
Just wanted to let you know that at least one person here devoured the article. Thanks for posting.

Kind words, Steven. Thank you. You interpreted its intent as I had planned. The continured demonization of the thoughtful people who realize the data do not add up correctly is unhealthy in a free society.
