I really enjoy this site and mostly I am learning a lot.
I am a beginner but love to take photos. I am looking into purchasing a good affordable camera but I am lost in space as to which one to get. Any suggestions ?

What do you consider affordable?
What kind of shots are you looking to get ? landscapes, portraits?

We need a bit more information. Are you looking for a DSLR or Point&Shoot pocket camera? What's the most you want to spend? What are you going to primarily going to use it for? If answered we can give you a range of possible candidates. :) Here's a great place to get a feel for what you want without biased opinions.

I don't recommend one camera brand over the other, I do recommend going into the store and holding the camera. What feels right in my hands, might not feel right in yours.

I shot Canon, I didn't have a preference when I went into the store, it just felt a little better in my hands. The location of the dials worked for me, a friend shots Nikon. Something about the way it felt in her hands felt right to her. To each their own.

For around $1,000 both Canon and Nikon offer starter camera kits. I believe Canon's is the T3i and Nikon is the D5100 (someone will correct me if I'm wrong). I personally don't think you could go wrong with either of these.

I went to the store with the intention of a nickon or canon and ended up with a sony becuase it felt right in my hands.
I got the camera kit, with a tameron lens and glass lens protectors for both lenses for just under $1000.00.

For just under $1000 look at the Sony A55. Also you might consider used equipment, I purchased a Sony A700 on eBay for $500 in almost new condition (prior owner took good care of it).

No matter how much you intend to spend, or what sort of shots you intend to take (this will change as you grow as a photographer), make sure the camera is one that does all the things you want it to, that it has the possibility of changing and growing with you (this means a DSLR), and that it feels good in your hands. There are few things more aggravating than trying to use something, anything, and it being difficult or awkward to use.
Also, don't worry about being able to use everything on the camera right away. As you grow as a photographer you will learn to use more and more of the options, and you'll be glad they are already there. You'll save yourself from having to purchase a new camera because you've outgrown the one you own.

What kind of camera are you currently using?

Are you primarily interested in learning about photo techniques to create better photos? Or are you interested in creating better photos with fancier equipment?

Sony,Canon or Nikon,Pentax are four of the top models and you enter with 12 to 18 megapixelsw and cost with 18-55mm lense around $500 plus minimum. Always buy if possible from a dealer you can get back in their face ounce you buy the camera and need help. All are pretty easy for a beginner I am partial to Nikon like the D-3100 at 14 megapixels. I have used all the above cameras and none is worse or better that the other one.

I suspect whatever camera you decide on,your opinion, as well as your wants and needs will change in a relatively short period of time as you grow and learn to master the finer points of your new found hobby.

I also suspect your budget may climb a bit higher but you can cross that bridge when you get to it.

Enjoy.
