The "xray technique"

Has anybody heard of the "xray technique"? I ran across it at a photo contest where an entrant used it in a photograph of flowers. Don't know whether it's a camera effect or Photoshop.

Google says there is an x-ray process in Photoshop -
didn't find anything referencing a camera...

Most of the guys I know are using real x-ray machines to photograph flowers--gives you two options I can think of--find a doc who is also a photographer and who owns an x-ray machine--or you would probably have better luck talking to a vet--maybe offer him some pix for his office.
