That's my goal - living to 100 and buying a new camera.

For a long time my goal was to be shot by a jealous husband when I was 110! Then I got remarried. Haven't come up with a new goal yet, but yours sounds good to me. :D

In all likelihood they will make a competing camera. However, they may outdo Nikon with a camera that has a sensor the size of that in the Hasse.

A new camera war will ensue. Also, Sony has come out with a curved sensor which is supposed to be superior to the flat sensors of today.

there's a problem inherent with curved sensors - there are no lenses, currently in existance, which may be used with such a configuration. and support from the lens makers is just not going to happen. so, just be happy with what you have an buy one of the new, revolutionary curved televisions, which the same electronics industry is now trying to foist on you.

I'll be saving up my spare change for Canon to introduce a camera with a sensor the size of that in a Hasse ! A sensor of such size will blow the pants off Nikon :)

If that happens, save your pennies for a new computer too.

You'll need a whole lot of processing power to handle those files.

My opinion? Seriously? Have you ever done research on the subject?

I'll supply you with ONE link. You can google more if you need more "proof".

Brief recap According to DxO Labs (NOT my opinion):
D800E sensor rating = 96
5D3 sensor rating = 81

Thank you for the link to dxo labs. It's in my opinion it is a paid lab to promote business proformence data which I do not take much stock in! again just my opinion. There are better ways to test! Real world experience for one, from people who shoot the world around them, the stuff you see published; like National Geographic and other publisher's who provide photographs, again just my opinion! But again thank you it's been fun communicating with you.
One last thing is a lot of what's published is done with Canon pro summer cameras
. Heck even Scott Kelby has switched to Canon who was a Nikon user for year's.

My opinion? Seriously? Have you ever done researc... (show quote)

I repaired cameras for thirty years and developed equipment to collimate and analyze lens systems for another ten years. For the past fifteen years I've been trying to learn how to take good pictures. - slow learner!

National geographic, sports illustrated, NHL, NFL, USTA, NSCCA, etc., all endorse Canon. It doesn't mean any other manufacturer is bad, or even not as good, it simply means these, and other, entities endorse one brand and not another. Use the cameras, look at the pictures, and judge for yourself! :D

Only 2 rules in photography - -
1) Be There
2) Have a camera
-
I've gone from 10D to 20D to 40D to 7D
At each stage - the camera was better than I was
-
I have EFS and EF lenses that I really like - -
moving to the 5D-IV would be difficult - - so looking to the 7D-MkII if it is any more than vaporware
-
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I made the transition to digital in 2002, with a Fuji FinePix 6900, I mercifully fell on it while trying to get pictures of a new kitten that we had just acquired, and crushed the nylon followers in the lens' zoom assembly - was once called the converter. The shutter delay on that camera drove me nuts! Next was Canon's Digital Rebel in 2003, a 20D, in 2005, then a 7D in 2013, late last year. I can tell you that the 20D was getting very long in the tooth. I think the camera was functioning fine, but, almost eight years of technological progress left the little guy in the dust. I like the 7D very much.

Love that Clarke's three laws.

I started with a Canon A1. Still have it but not used for 20 years or more. After a few P&S, an SX150 and an SX40 and a 60D I am ready for my ideal camera. I have send little hints to Canon. I am sure they are working overtime to meet my specs within a price range we can all live with.
Soon, Soon, it will be done.

while they may endorse Canon, the choice of imaging devices is left to the individual, specifically National Geographic.

That's actually the case almost everywhere. My point is that just because an organization endorses a product does not make that a superior product to its competition. It's really all about the individual photographer's preference.
NG makes Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and I believe Sony, products/ support/ lenses available to its photogs.

Simple answer, since Canon sells more camera's world wide...they have more money to spend on sponsor endorsements....really the impressive resume you listed is all about how much Canon paid these groups to "be on their side"
