Black Rapid Strap with 70-200?

Just got my new 70-200 2.8 IS. When using carrying my 5D with the new lens is it best to attach the strap to the camera or the tripod collar? Or, is there any other strap that I should consider getting?

Use the tripod collar and invest in a BR tether kit.

Simply, if the lens has a tripod collar, I use it.

The BR tether kit is a waste of money for what you get. Already using a tether that I put together out of parts I already had laying around the house.

Thanks

Tripod collar for sure. You might also want to look at the Optech sling strap. Connect it to the tripod collar and the right camera connection for added safety. I have this setup and it works well with the 70-200. ;)

Go with Optech..... First it's a lot cheaper then a BR and second you can configure it to a neck strap when you go down to a smaller lens size with a few extra straps that are very cost friendly to the user.

Which op-tech strap do you recommend?

Not everybody is a master DIY'er, and not everything that people find useful is a waste of money. I'm sorry you were not happy with yours (you did buy and try one, right? You obviously know then that what you got was a quality product that did not meet your needs.)

I apologize if you took offense to my post. I didn't mean for it to come across that way. What I meat to say was that it is very expensive for what it is. I wouldn't have purchased the black rapid strap if I wasn't satisfied with the quality of their products. Just didn't feel like a couple of carabiners and a strap was worth the $30 price tag.

While we may not feel the same way about the tether I do appreciate you taking the time to reply to my original post.
