Today I was approached by a store manage to take pet photos for Santa Paws, Easter, etc. I've been taking pet photos for sometime now as a volunteer. I have my camera, a speedlite, a tripod and wireless remote. Do I need any other equipment? Any tips, pointers, what lens, settings work best, etc. Help me decide if I should do this. Cannot affort more equipmnt.
Where do you shoot the pet photos. If in store, you might want to invest in a portable back drop, Stand an back drops.

Research your pricing. Don't set too low a price. There is a thread on this forum about pricing.
Gonna be hard with out some lighting and backdrops.
I must sound pretty ignorant, but what kind of stand do you mean...one for the backdrop?
Thanks. Good point. From initial conversation not sure it is negotiable, but I need to know what is fair for this type of work.

Dont forget the "Pet Model Release"
Thanks, I wouldn't havethought of that.
where would I obtain a "pet model release"?
Lol....good luck. Also get your biz license and biz insurance. The store will require it. If you do it without insurance...good luck. The store will be sending you a 1099

I got a business license years ago - very simple. I went to the county offices, filled out some papers and paid a small fee. What amazed me was that they didn't want to know what kind of a business I had. All they needed was the business name. Of course, I had to register with the state sales tax dept, too.
Yikes, who thought it would be this involved. haven't heard from them again yet, so will wait until I need all this. Working on the release form now however. Thanks evryone for all this good information!!!
