Red-Veined Darter Dragonfly against green ferns
Thanks K7DJJ, I only needed a narrow DOF to get all I wanted in focus.

Nice, very sharp
While the photo is beautiful it is lost in a sea of green loosing the impact it deserves. Crop in to highlight the dragon making it the focal point. S-
This shot must be downloaded. The subject is amazingly sharp, and it is clearly the focal point. I love the background fronds. The color of the dragonfly picks up the reddish places on the fronds and adds a congruity to the image. I would not crop to make the dragonfly "pop" more, but if possible I might crop to move the dragonfly a little more lower left. However, it is a stunning image as present. Color, Clarity, Exposure, and composition work together to make this a very strong image.
Thanks Steve, I hear what you are saying.

Thanks Nightski, I am quickly discovering the sweet spot with this lens is in the middle F-Stop range 5.6 to 11. It is very sharp at all stops but the middle range is truly amazing.

It should always be what you like, but when I look at I am left wanting more.

Focus and sharpness, especially in the download are superb...but Zi lose the deicate wings against the rich, pervasive green....pretty much as SteveM mentioned.
Not sure how to salvage. Just not that your lens is incredibly capable, and next time try for a more distant ...and darker...BG.
