Sorry but I am new to all of this and am looking at LR 5 but just cannot seem to get myself to buy it. This looks interesting to me and I need to get something to process images as currently I have nothing. I just purchased a Lenovo Pro 2 and it has literally nothing on it.

How does this compare to LR 5 in ease of use? and

What does "plug-in " mean? That you have to use LR or other program? Or that it can be used with LR or other program?

Thanks everyone. I hate pp it takes so much time and I am finding I don't even like shooting in RAW and Jpeg as I have to look at everything twice and takes twice as long before I even decide what is worthy of pp at all.

Thanks, New and Overwhelmed

Has anyone any experience positive or negative with this program? I received an offer for this suite for less than $100.00 and I was curious if any members are using it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks/ Tim

I got the full suite a few months ago with a free upgrade to 8.5 for $49 for the stand alone version. It is my goto PP app.

It can be used from within Lightroom.

You can use it on it's own ... standalone

I picked it up last month and since then received an e-mail, each month, with links to more free presets. For under $100 for the LR version, you can't go wrong.

Lightroom is a database to keep up with your photos, and an editor, which also "develops" your raw photos. You can keep up with and edit raw and jpeg photos in it. It is an excellent program, though like all programs does have a learning curve and it's important to learn something about it before you try to turn your photo collection over to it for safekeeping. It does good basic editing without really changing anything in your photos, it just adds instructions (invisible to you) to make your photo look like you want.

The On One suite discussed in this thread can be used by itself to alter your photos or as an add-on "plug-in" for other popular programs like lightroom or photoshop. It can develop raw photos though it is not as good as lightroom for this purpose. Its strength is in its advanced editing by giving you a sophisticated layer-based editing program and a wide array of certain "looks" that you can easily apply to your photos, or you can dig deeper and customize these looks.

All these programs are great. They are not necessary if you like shooting jpeg and like the way your photos come out. Most people either love or hate post processing. It's worth experimenting a little bit to see which camp you fall into, then do as YOU wish. You can easily experiment with the free software that came with your camera, or one of many free editing programs or with a trail of one of these softwares. If you need more help or info, check out the Post Processing section on this UHH forum.

I got it recently and love it. Works great with LR5. Try RetailMeNot. They had several coupons. The one I used was $30 off on top of the original discount offer.

I enjoy editing my photos most of the time and just playing around and experimenting with the different software that I currently have, LR5, PS, Nik collection, editing my nef raw files in View NX, etc... I think this OnOne Suite is probably the best bang for your buck right now and I suppose I will not pass on it at the current price. That said, I really do enjoy "getting it right", in my camera and not having to do much at all!

The only negative I've seen with it is that it does not have a text feature. If you access it through Lightroom or Photoshop then there is no problem. But if you use Perfect Effects as a stand-a-lone then you have to depend on another method for adding text to the photo.

If you want to use text to add a watermark this limitation can be overcome by creating the watermark as a separate image and then layering it in.

I have suite 7 and love it. The tutorials are great and I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to 8.5. It will work as a stand alone program or a plug in to Lightroom and Photoshop. It allows you to do some amazing things to your photographs.
