The birds are probably hiding right now trying to keep warm, but it will be warm up and they will be happy to pose for you.

Yep, it's a rabbit. Spotted this wild rabbit while walking through a park on Long Island. It was approaching dusk which is why the ISO is high. Comment and Critique welcome.
Hausenpheffer anyone? (sorry about the spelling I don't speak German)

Hasenpfeffer (also spelled hasenfeffer) is a traditional German stew made from marinated rabbit or hare, cut into stewing-meat sized pieces and braised with onions and wine in a marinade thickened with the animal's blood.
The 1962 Bugs Bunny cartoon Shishkabugs makes repeated reference to hasenpfeffer.
The dish is referenced in the song, "G.I. Blues," written by Sid Tepper and Roy Bennett for Elvis Presley, who performed it in the film and album of the same name. The second verse of the song begins, "We get hasenpfeffer and black pumpernickel for chow."

I have no idea how people can kill and eat rabbits. Great portrait of a "Peter"

The other evening I took a bite of a chicken cutlet in a restaurant and sent it back because it tasted exactly like blowfish. :|

I'm embarrassed to admit I'm half German from my moms side of the family. Thanks for the info. and correct spelling. The Bugs Bunny cartoon is what came to mind when the conversation turned to cooked rabbit. Since I'm not a big Elvis fan I was not aware of the song or movie but I do like pumpernickel bread. Just wished I wasn't gluten intolerant so I could eat it.
