Dot in viewfinder, D7000

Recently noticed a dot in the viewfinder of my D7000. Same spot with different lenses, and doesn't show up in photos. If it was on the sensor, wouldn't it show in the photos? The focus of the dot doesn't seem to change as I manually focus. Ideas? Thank you.

Dust on mirror? Dust on view finder/viewer. Just a thought.

I should have mentioned, the glass in the viewfinder was my first thought. I cleaned that, no change.

Its either on the mirror or on the focusing screen above the mirror. It will have no effect on your images and should blow off easily unless it was a liquid that got in while you were changing lenses.

Try a shot via LCD. That should lock the mirror out of the way. If you still have the spot, it's not your mirror.

Right. If you can see it in the viewfinder it isn't on your sensor.
