In a country as large as the US, and generally as sparsely populated, a small number of dedicated fighters, with minimal support from a friendly percentage of the population, could quite likely wage a successful war against the US military. The goatherders in Afghanistan have.

Another fact that seems to drop by the way side, most of our military is overseas. They would need to be brought back.

Funny how it is not a important reason to protect our borders from drugs and illegal immigration with the military, but how they would use it on the populace and how the populace would be able to stand up against them. But yet the military is suppose to be under the control of the civilian authority. Civilian authority is you and I because we elect those to represent us that are suppose to be over the military. So they are going to shoot and harm the people? Kent State had hell of a repercussion .

You mean as in "Now don't jump to conclusions, the shooting at Ft. Hood was just another case of work place violence"! Go tell the survivors and the relatives of the deceased that "Troll"!

According to The National Opinion Research Council at the University of Chicago, from 1977 to 2012 gun ownership in this country has fallen from 54% of the population to 34%. This is being attributed to the fact that all the old gun owners are dying off and younger Americans are less interested in owning guns.

Now I'm sure all the righties here on UHH will pull their usual move and deny or dispute the facts, so have at it. When all else fails, simply deny the truth. Regardless, it's just a matter of time before we won't have to worry about gun laws.
According to The National Opinion Research Council... (show quote)

Interesting fact. Gun owner ship is down and shootings are up. I wonder why. Hm?

Thanks Croce. Where I keep it is less important than the fact that I have one... but you may have a point.

I have always tought that! The word liberal, I've equated with Liberty! Liberals equate the word with what I call the "vaseline jar" vernacular only instead of vaseline it is regulations, rules and more laws as in "apply liberally"! Except in my case then I am exempt!

BTW, they hate George Washington! It is now a sale day at Bed Bath and Beyond!

Conservatives want Biblical Law. Nothing could be more controlling. By the way, George Washington says stop lying about liberals.

Finally someone who actually understands the concept. Through all of history a small band of freedom fighters, good guys or bad, have made major changes to include the removal of a pretentious government and the US would be no different. Thanks for post.

If you worry about rattlesnakes and bad men, that gun should always be with you not under your bed.

Rattle snakes seem to be able to be stopped by a closed door to the entry of a house, so the necessity of carrying it in the house is not needed.

The bad man is another story. But since the bad man has a brain that says to lessen his possibility of confrontation until the last second, he chooses to do his entry in the darkness of night. Where would something for protection be found? Around the bed. So having a gun somewhere around the bed is perfectly fine.

There is currently an army of 8 thousand that is running down an army of 1 million. It all centers around the dedication of the armies involved though I doubt seriously an insurgency would work as well here since not only would they have to contend with a well trained army, but federal agencies, and local police; all which are better equipped and equally dedicated as they...

So all these government agencies are to be better equipped than their bosses? So this anti-thing is so the government can beat the civilian populace into submission with better equipment that was bought with the tax payers money. I've been so wrong in thinking that the constitution began with WE the People..., not The people being subservient to the government, will obey or be shot.

It may be true that the political "will to win" is an important factor.
But I don't understand your comments about "your," referring to me, "band of brothers," etc. First of all, that is a misquote. I never used the word "brothers." Secondly, I haven't advocated anything, I haven't suggest revolution, I haven't urged killing anyone. I don't know where you got that idea, and frankly, it's not only incorrect, but offensively so.

To suggest that an armed attack against the US from within could happen and to further suggest that it could be successful causes some, myself included, to get uncomfortable. Especially when the posters photo avatar shows him all geared up and ready to go.

No one to my knowledge has called for banning all guns.

Perhaps you can point me to some national leader who has called for such an action.

To you people any attempt at background checks is a call for banning guns!

Your mantra is: THE SKY IS FALLING

Where have you been? We already HAVE background checks. The stated objective of the left is an Australia type confiscation. The sky is NOT falling. We will never allow it. There are guys who want it to fall. What would you call the Justice department notifying banks not to extend credit to busineses if they sell guns or ammunition? The Executive branch has tried all sorts of underhanded tricks to make the sky fall. But they will not succeed. Our mantra is "We will keep our Second Amendment".

Must have been a really old post. Haven't been able to buy directly off the internet since about the latter 1930s, I think. Gun purchases have to go through a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder-- which is usually a store.

See there you go again, confusing a liberal with facts. Now they will have to come back with more made up biased statistics and charts to show us just how ignorant we are.

39,000 murders annually, and the guilty that get jail time are released on work programs! Where's the uproar about drunk drivers?
