take my word for it, there are a bunch of right fine canon users here on the forum who have overcome the limitations of their lower tier equipment.

Since you brought it up, I have noticed that there is more Nikon equipment in the Classified section than Canons. Could it be that Nikon users aren't all that pleased with what they have. Just a thought.

My Relationship goes back about 40 years ago, I had a Yashica (been so long I don't even remember how to spell it) it was stolen along with about 6 lens, when I go y insurance money and went to replace it the the guy at the camera shop did not want to sell Me a Nikon - told Me I wasn't good enough for a Nikon and I would be better off with a Canon. So now I feel that Nikon is not good enough for ME.

I have used Canon for over 40 years. Last year went to a store to buy a pocket camera. I was told Nikon has a great one. I got it, it did not work call Nikon and they told me I did not have a approved card in it, the next time it was because it was only 3/4 charged and finally the agreed to take it and fix it. They said we don't replace them we fix them. I took back to the store exchanged it for a Canon. Nikon make a good camera any make can have a new camera failing but the way Nikon responded compared to my experience to Canon problems is night and day. Others have had the same with Nikon.

Just wondering why I hardly ever see anything from Canon users? Too many lenses with Canon to change now. But I still love this site and have learned soooo much- I'm still a newbie.

it's strange you say that, because there is a huge number of Canon shooters on this site.

Wow, isn't it interesting and amazing how times have changed?! Canon is now quite a leader in the glass department (as are Nikon, Zeiss and Olympus), and a favorite among professional action photographers. I'd say their expertise today is every bit as high as anyone else's, and much higher than most. Yes, how times have changed. ;)

actually, e leitz, carl zeiss produce lenses which are much better than anything Canon can even come close to. also, as an aside, Minolta made their own glass, rather than sourcing it from Schott. as a result, even manual Minolta Rokkors meet and even exceed anything made today by Canon or Nikon. and please, don't even mention the latest gimmick "nano" lens coatings. hell, there are lenses made in the 1930s that will flog anything out there today (see Heliar).

Contentment! #2 and below always try harder and make more noise, especially make more noise. It can be very confusing to a new observer or an innocent bystander.

That's because Canon cameras are designed for the less skilled people because they believe it will overcome their own talent shortcomings. Nikon useers don't need the best cameras because their talent exceeds their camera's capability . ;)

Rac, I don't know how Canons got better, but your explanation is as good as any!!

Arloc, just cause you're ugly, doesn't mean you HAVE to use a Nikon.
Post your best pic, and we'll tell you!

that's a shame, since there are plenty of folks on the planet who would love to have and use them. it's really a misuse of fine equipment
