Linked is an article at The Daily Beast which contains the content of two letters which Bergdahl was allowed to send home during his captivity. If the letters are authentic it would appear that in the letters Bergdahl confirm his own desertion.

If real (BIG IF) they seem to suggest nothing more than he was in a dangerous place with no unit leadership. The assertion of desertion is a very large jump. Please wait for facts and keep your guesswork in check unless you like confusion.

I grant to you that the letters alone can not be used to convict him, but IMO they seem to defend his decision to walk away from his post....

Interesting that you ask that people not form opinions on this case, I don't know your politics, but when I was suggested the same about the Zimmerman trial and was excoriated by some for making such a request. Of course the actual evidence in the Zimmerman case pointed towards an acquittal.

LOL Sarg, I paid attention to the Zimmerman trial as I live very close to where the tragedy unfolded, it was very clear that the actual evidence was in Zimmerman's favor... But! Because Martin was a young black kid and unarmed, even though he was smashing Zimmerman's head into concrete as testified to by an eye witness, you libs just had to have a white guy pay the price no matter what the evidence told you. LOL you are so foolish in your old age, Zimmerman is not even a white guy.... what a waste of outrage.
