I metered almost at the center of the picture, a bit to to the right, in the dark area near and to the left of the palm frond.
Picture was taken in RAW mode and finished in Elements 9. I tweaked it just enough to match what I saw when I took it.
My dog is well behaved, good natured and great with kids. I am glad you liked both pictures.

I go visit my parents in Florida a week from tomorrow. I'll try to get some good pics to post from the Venice/Sarasota area. Any suggestions as to the most photogenic locations???
