When You Have Lemons
.
I have been trying for several days to get a Bobolink picture. When they are close to the road, it's on the wrong side for the sun. When they are on the correct side of the road for a morning shot, the sun doesn't show up. Oh well!
I like it, I think. Would you be adverse to posting a bigger version with "download" checked?

I'll try to remember to do that tonight when I get home from work.

Man I really like this it has a great since of mistery and the lonely bird. Just a suggestion, if you take out the noise and sharpen it a little you would have a better view of your Bobolink, I think you made a great shot.

Thank you. When I have some time I'll give your suggestions a try.
Fog always makes for an interesting shot. Adds a bit of mystery.

Thank you, Sally. I didn't respond sooner because I was playing with this. Bottom line, after an hour or two of tweaking (tried changing brightness level, gamma, contrast, etc.) and didn't come up with anything I liked better.
Did you post process this already?
(1) No EXIF data.
(2) Topaz DeNoise (best in the business) didn't even phase the "noise".
But I like whatever you did. Like Ontos mentioned, it's the sense of mystery and the lonely bird (allegedly a bubberlink, but I wouldn't know one if it bit me in the butt, cause they're rare in Oregon).
The only thing I did get to work was to select the bubber--the bird in Elements, give it some Gaussian blur and increase the contrast, then lightly sharpened the top half of his/it's tree.
Just subtle changes, so I still very much like this shot. You made lemonade!

Yes, minimal PP in LR5 as I am no PP expert. Slight shadows, contrast and a bit of sharpening, etc. Nothing major. I think it was shot at 800 ISO with Nikon D7100 & Sigma 150-500, probably at 500 so it is noisy. I don't believe I did a crop but can't remember at the moment.
It is indeed a "bubberlink". They are getting harder to find here as their habitat, open fields, are going the way of development.
Thanks for looking and spending some time with it. It is folks like you whom I learn from here on UHH.

Would you mind if I give that noise a shot?

Happy to have you give it a go! Please let me know what you do to improve it so I can learn for the next time.

Well I took a shot and might have missed the target. I played with it in Lightroom 5.4, Used Clarify, sharpen and noise reduction, also played with the highlights and shadows . For some reason Lightroom changed the name of the picture so I just added this one.
Cheers
