LIGHTNING

I have always wanted to take an awesome lightning photo,but haven't been able to. I have a canon rebel T3i with a 75-300 and 18-55 lenses. Am I able to with the equipment that I have and how ?

Settings:

•Use a tripod
•Put the lens to Manual Focus and then focus to Infinity
•Set the ISO to 100
•If DOF isn't an issue with only a dark open sky, use a wide open aperture, eg f/4
•With the camera in Manual mode, put the shutter to Bulb and use a remote shutter release
•Actuate the shutter (manually leaving it open) and wait for the lightning strikes, and then close the shutter after it’s appeared

•Check your preview for exposure, and use the ISO to lighten the scene

For daytime shots, you will need some sort of lightening trigger. I have a PatchMaster trigger, which has so e other useful features as well. There are others, of course. I just need some lightening.....
