At the end of the brief event, the soldiers father, Bob Bergdahl, recited the most frequent phrase in the Koran Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim which means In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.
After Bergdahl finished his statement and his praise for Allah, Obama hugged him.

He's a deserter and should be treated as such. *My* army had many draftees (I was one, but enlisted to go to flight school...) and I was in the middle of a war almost universally unpopular, both home *and* in-country. Most of us did our duty, drafted or not, which speaks well for our sense of honor. I've heard/read reports that 5+ men died trying to find this piece of dog-doo. His folks taught him the hippy mentality and he ran with it...no pun... ;)

I always said that soon as he leaves the presidency he will openly declare himself a Muslim and sign up with a local mosque. :hunf:

I have not seen all the evidence on how Berghal wound up in the hands of the Taliban but listening to his father's comments and reading the tweets both he and his father are supposed to have sent sure have me leaning toward him being a deserter. If that turns out to be the case then a long stretch in Leavenworth is where he needs to be.
