I think you did a great job at what you set out to do. The brown lamb is in focus, the color contrast and exposure on him are right on. However, the blur in the rest of the picture is distracting ..., way too distracting.

I was thinking about the other lambs this morning ... are they distracting because they are not OOF enough? When you pan you get that extreme motion blur, but perhaps lambs move too slow to get that kind of blur behind them?

I am not sure why they are not blurred more. They look more like Depth of Field blur as opposed to motion blur.

Cool shot.. I played around with some different crops and found what I was looking for in your pic. But if you found what you where looking for in the shot then enough said. :D Again cool shot

The out of focus animals bother me. I think it is because they are part of the story and part of the composition. They are interesting and important in this little drama and I want to see them clearly.

On the other hand, I like the feeling of motion that the blurred background gives your main subject. That part of the image works very well for me.

I have asked them nicely to reenact this for me so I can use a smaller aperture, but so far nothing doing. :-D
