I haven't seen anything posted yet in GCC but I'm curious how many watched the interview on NBC last night and what some opinions are from the regular political subject contributors. Even you idiots I never agree with. That was meant as humor but somebody will certainly take it wrong. Lighten up and let's see a good discussion.
I 'm waiting to see how the Administration is going to react to His claiming to be a High Level spy in some Deep Undercover mission......even wants us to believe he is still being paid from what he said !....
Personally I believe Snowden just served to confirm what we all suspected about the NSA......who hide in a Borg type Cube ....as you well know......resistance is futile !
Edward Snowden is a traitor to the United States, he violated his oath and Agreement in stealing and releasing classified information.
He belongs in a dark, dank hole for the rest of his life. Oh yeah, he already is, living in Russia.
Eddie, how's those winters treating you?

He made a compelling case and I think truly believes that what he did was justified. In his mind he believes it. Or he's a great con-man. Either way the security services will be doing business as usual. One thing that caught my attention was his record as far as education. It's obvious he's very intelligent but never obtained a high school diploma. Yet was working on a Master's Degree on-line. Something is missing. It'll make a best-seller and a great movie one day. Brad Pitt is probably drooling for the part. I have nothing to hide so the NSA can spy on me all they want. I just find it an interesting story. I doubt that he'll show up on Jimmy Fallon anytime soon.

Supposedly the Russian government is ignoring him. Yeah right.
I am not at this point willing to say traitor or patriot. Considering the lies and subterfuge of government agencies, I await. I have come to disbelieve much of that which is published by our "leaders". That of which I know of the releases by Snowden, have been an embarrassment to the NSA.
One thing I am sure of-- if he were in the Country, he likely would be dead.

This is the argument of a man soon to give up his freedom. It is not about whether or not one has anything to hide; it is all about the value of our privacy in this society. The NSA is looked upon by this OP as a benign entity concerned only for his safety. Of course, the opposite is true.
The fact of the matter is that the NSA
is spying on him all they want, and they have no reason to. He is not now nor will he ever be a threat to this country. And that begs the question, why spy on him at all? The data that the NSA collects on all of us can be used in insidious ways, all sorts of ways that can do us harm. Knowledge is power. The first thing you need to control a people, to assure their subservience to the power of the state, is a network capable of compiling as much information as you can about that people.
I do not trust the security forces of this government. The OP does. You all can decide which of us is right.

Although you and I disagree on a lot of things I have to say I agree with you here!

Just what oath are you speaking of and how exactly did he violate it?

I agree, the government has foregone the 4th amendment and has long ago decided that there is much that the American people should never learn about what it is up to and how it operates. I fear for our constitution as more and more it seems to be little more than window dressing for the American people as the government does whatever it damn well pleases.

And if he took an oath NOT to disclose what turns out to be overreaching and illegal acts of government, does he have a higher duty. That duty, protect the constitution and the citizens. I for one do not believe the official position, and will not until a believe able disclosure, which will never come. As to Snowden my jury is still out.

Just like your president then and politicians worldwide. Lets face it ANY politician at ANY layer of government are in it for what they can get for themselves.

It has been asked before, what oath. I'd like to hear the entire oath which I am sure includes abiding by the Laws and Constitution. Where are you then if they have been violated. I guess you cover up.

Before this interview I don't remember being informed that Snowden worked directly for the CIA and NSA.
That would be a good reason for Russia to ignore Snowden. It would make sense that he might be a CIA misinformation agent.
Knowing that major media lies to us on all important issues, I have to wonder why they set up this interview. They allowed Snowden to make himself out to be a hero and to appear more intelligent than Brian Williams who seemed to be very uncomfortable and at a loss for what to say at times.
Snowden may be legitimate or he could be an elaborate propaganda tool to be used by those in power.
To Snowden's credit, he did say he had tried to go through legal channels to report the government agency spying but was warned he would be destroyed if he did. If he's telling the truth, then he is a hero because he had no way to release the information legally.
