My research is not clear on this. My guess is that it is going to be shot in raw so that Capture NX2 can tweak it further in post.
But what is interesting is that this camera will shoot video in pure 1080 hdmi settings at 30P. Watch this video recorded by this D800 camera by SANDO. The graphics and audio is awesome!!

Be sure and scroll down to "broadcast video" to watch the video.
I don't have a clue what I would need 36MP for. That's one hell of a file size to be storing and working with, especially RAW.
Looks to be aimed at portrait and wldlife photography with its slow frame advance, not too good for action shooting.
However, at $3000 it must be a bargain for someone. It's certainly cheaper to buy and use your existing "F" mount lenses than to pay $20k for a medium format 40MP if you need this kind of resolution.
Kind of weird using 2 different cards, a CF for full frame and an SD for the DX format in this camera (which is 15Mp).
Only from 2 images, from what I gather.

You have a choice in size shooting raw.
Large raw size=7360 by 4912
Medium raw size= 5520 by 3680
small raw size = 3680 by 2456
