Gotta love that A99!!!

GREAT camera... I miss mine sometimes because of the glass I had for it!

You got rid of your A99 and glass for it? Why?

Didn't "get rid" per se, I sold to a very willing buyer! I couldn't keep the Sony system for the Canon 1DX offer I had in front of me. My buddy is a pro who was given. 1DX in Sochi, trying to say him back, and he's a lifelong Nikon shooter. He loves the 1DX, everything about it (speed, autofocus, colors, ergonomics, etc.) but can't afford an entire system switch ($100,000+). I got a great price on this beast, and some glass, with very little use on it.
I would have a Sony A99 and it's glass, in a minute, if I had an extra $10,000 to spend on GAS. I give it 2 thumbs up.
My biggest critique of the A99 is the EVF for sports/action, and I do shoot a lot of that, so the 1DX suits me very well, since it has an optical VF.

Hi all.

I have been judiciously adding Sony shooters to my buddy list wherever I see them. I now have 82 in my list. We are growing.

I tried to start a thread when I got my new NEX-7. Hardly any takers. Glad to see the pages growing on this one!

I'm impressed by the Sony NEX-7. Their computer technology is way ahead of my much more expensive Nikons. Lenses, not so much.

I just bought the Sigma 50-500 lens. All of the pictures I have taken have been razor sharp except when it is at infinity focus. Any suggestions?

Don't use infinity focus?

I think I read somewhere that if you go to the stop on any lens it is actually beyond what is needed for infinite focus and thus everything is out of focus.

Use the hyperfocal distance as a guide.

Hi all. Wanted to update my Nikon d80 to a full frame and chose to go with the latest technology. Got my a99 after the first of this year with a Sony nifty 50 1.4. Now I am looking for a wide angle and telephoto. Any thoughts? Wow, what a camera. Others can say what the like about the EVF but I for one really like it and now that I've gotten use to it I wound't do with out it. Count me in.

Congrats on your A99...great choice!
Check out Sony's 16-50mm f2.8 lens...it's a fantastic lens!
I'm with you on the EVF, I'll never go back to an OVF.

If you have a couple grand to toss at a lens, I DEFINITELY recommend the Carl Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8. It is the BEST zoom lens you can put on your A99 and it's an EXCELLENT choice throughout the range.

I've been contemplating the 16-50 myself for my A77. I've been getting my replacement lenses full-frame, though, in anticipation of someday going that way, but the 16-50 is a crop lens...still I need something fast for church pics and I'd rather get a zoom now. I can always get primes. My kit 17-55 is just too slow to be effective...I can't use flash so my shutter speed is generally about 1/40 sec average - if anyone moves they get blurry. The Zeiss is out of my league, financially speaking!

Anyone know how to get to Sony repair?

I messes up cleaning my sensor and need at least professional cleaning or maybe new lp filter, hoping they can replace it instead of sensor.

The 16-50mm is a VERY good lens on the A77. It's usually my walk-around lens when I'm taking pictures for fun. The image quality is very good, it's fast, very quick to focus, and distortion is corrected in camera.

It's worth the price, and is as good as the CZ 16-80mm f/3.5 optically but superior because of the built in motor (SSM).
