If you want to photograph some beautiful hot air balloons this weekend, then Simpsonville, SC is the place to be. Located in the upstate, this festival is convenient for people coming from Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
The annual Aloft festival will be held all weekend, so there's plenty of time to make a quick trip if you're wondering what you can do this Memorial Day weekend.

I hope to be there during the blue hour to shoot the balloons lit up in all their glory. During the day, it's so hot! But once the sun starts going down, the magic begins!

In early morning, late evening watch for balloons to appear lit up when the gas flame is increased. Like a multi-color light bulb!

Yes! They have a few balloons tethered to the ground at night, with the gas burners ignited. They can't fly at night, but the glowing balloons are great photo opportunities.
The weather is supposed to be great this weekend; maybe just a slight chance of some showers, but hopefully no major thunderstorms. In years past, some of the events have been washed out.
