Check with your vendor, there have been several posts of people getting their Nikon lenses. I know that our local camera store got the Nikon in last week, but not the Canon.

Got a shipping notice from Adorama yesterday... My nikon version is on the way should be here tomorrow. I ordered mine 12/25/13 (Merry Christmas from the wife)... Pictures to follow delivery
:-D

What f stop do you recommend with 600? Yes I have a UV filter on. It is coming off. I really want this lens to work! Will calibrate this afternoon. Do you think using the dx crop would work better with this lens and camera?

I am thinking F9 to be a good compromise for this lens. I think using crop mode would be a good idea - and see how you like it ....especially at 500mm.

Congratulations! I think you will enjoy your new lens. For the money it's hard to do better.

Your settings should not be a problem but it could be the filter and f/8 would be better but f/6.3 does work. These are handheld.

f/6.3 1/640sec ISO640 600mm
f/6.3 1/640sec ISO640 600mm...
(Download)

f/6.3 1/800sec ISO1600 600mm
f/6.3 1/800sec ISO1600 600mm...

First thing I would do is fine tune your auto-focus. The second thing I would do is find a subject with lots of fine detail and do test shots at all f-stops with camera on a solid tripod, remote trigger and mirror-up. Pixel peep all shots to determine the lens's "sweet spot". You should repeat this at various focal lengths so that you really know where this lens shines. These tests allow you to control all the factors determining sharpness. Taking pictures of people or birds will tell you nothing because you are not controlling all the factors. The sweet spot will be slightly different with every lens - this is so even with $10,000 600mm primes.

Congratulations!! I'm waiting for the Nikon version so I guess I'll just keep looking at all the great photos from everyone who has their lens already. Looking forward to your photos!!

Try a local photoshop, they might have 1 or 2. The big places like Adorama and B&H get overloaded on orders. I ordered mine at Adorama and waited 1 1/2 months , called a local photoshop and they had one in stock. Bought the local one and cancelled my order with Adorama.
