I'm an 85 year old photo nut. I've had most of two years with the D3100, my best camera ever with good results. I have the Nikkor 85mm macro and the 18-200 zoom which I will use with the D7100. I'm told the difference in the quality of the photos will be great. I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice or affirmation about this camera. Should be in my hands in a couple of days.

If you had a D3100 and you get a D7100 your going to love it !! Not that I am saying there was anyting wrong with the 3100 !! Using the UHH Search, read some of these:

I'm a recent convert/upgrader to the D7100 as well. Wow, what a camera!
I was told by Frank Lee Ruggles (former official photographer for the US National Park Service) that if he weren't already shooting with a D800e, the D7100 would be his camera of choice.
Tip: I bought the book "Mastering the Nikon D7100" by Darrell Young. It's extremely readable and supplements the manual very nicely. There's a lot to this camera!

Hey Dave, I had the D3100 and moved up to the D7000 and then added the D7100 for my second body. You will love the camera, and believe it or not the extra weight. Helps holding the camera steady. Too many things to list here, you'll still be discovering things about it next year. Enjoy and God bless!

Wow, that's a great link that can keep me going awhile. Good affirmation! Thanks
I've had mine for about 9 moths now. Alls I can say is......"Love it". I have not been disappointed yet. The three pics that I attached were all done with an inexpensive 300 mm lens. It does so much and does it well. I talked to a few pros and all agreed the Nikon 7100 was an excellent choice.
I checked on books at Amazon and saw "mastering" but decided on Batdorff's "From Snapshots to Great Shots" with the D7100. It is similar to the one I got for the D3100 with lots of advice and suggestions on various kinds of photography. But I suspect what you have has lots more about the camera per se. How did it help you?

Thanks, Phil and God bless you as well. I'm caring for my wife with Alzheimer's. Photography helps keep me alive!
I have Lupus and RA. This camera is a blessing. I can almost always find a way to experiment and take pictures.

I'll take a look at the one you got. It sounds promising!
The "Mastering" book has a lot of in-depth discussion regarding pretty much every setting on the camera, but does it in a logical flow. The author also describes his own recommendations for settings, and cross-references with the manual for completeness.
It isn't a "how to" manual, per se, because it doesn't teach composition. But the author's narrative does include the reasons WHY white balance is important, how to use a gray card, etc.
You will really enjoy the D7100. Have fun.

Congratulations! You'll love the D7100. Creativelive.com has a very good video about using the D7100. It was about five hours long and cost $49.00.
