Please critique. Just a fast trip out this afternoon before the rain (again).

I love you composition in these, you definitely have an eye for it.

We all see colors and light differently and to my eyes these could use a little adjustment to make them all they could and should be. I would like to play with them a little, but only with your permission, of course.

They are all nice, but I REALLY like the apples. I like everything about it, the composition, the colors, the textures. It's an excellent picture.

Sorry, I had to! The apples just caught my eye and then I went and grabbed one from the fridge... I hope you don't mind but I added some HDR "High Dynamic Range" to them! Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I have to say that i much prefer the original. They look like apples to me. With the enhancement, they glow and no apple I've ever eaten glows :-) If it did, i think i might reconsider actually eating it!

yeah, I agree, I don't like it after uploading it on here but my editing screen showed it perfect. I only up the contrast in the HDR program by 2% and that's all I actually did. The original does lack in contrast a bit!

I've found a lot of things \look great on my HD big 23" desktop, but look entirely different (not in a good way) on my laptop. And that's just in my house.

That is one of the things we all have to recognize about showing pictures on the Internet. How something is going to display on someone else's computer is a crap shoot. We have no way of knowing what kind of monitor they have or how it renders color. There does not seem to be any solution to this. You have to make it look good on your own monitor: how it's going to look elsewhere? Hope for the best.

Not all color profiles reproduce well when you send your images out to the Web. Generally speaking sRGB will look most like what you see on your monitor. The other thing that I will no longer do without is a calibrated monitor. I use the Spyder3 Elite from Datacolor and really like it, but there are others. ColorMunki is very popular.

Thanks for all the comments. The apples look pretty much as they did at the market. I darkened the baskets a little and played with curves in PhotoShop. The HDR looks to over the top for me. Anybody who wants to play with the photos is welcome.

if you're using a laptop or an LCD monitor, the images will rarely look right. LCDs tend to produce less saturation, and the viewing angle can really distort the brightness and color. on my calibrated CRT, the re-worked photo looks totally oversaturated. the original is much better, though it could use a bit more contrast and color and some sharpening...
