Still the higher price lens is always better. And I'm not talkig about E Bay. The average hitter price from a manufacture is always better. You get what you pay for.

I don't think there's anything wrong with ebay or any of the online merchants. I think that it's up to the consumer to educate himself before buying anything from them. In my case, it was just one of those moments that i thought was a good idea at the time! I didn't investigate it enough to be a smart buyer, that's my fault! lesson learned!

You are exactly right on that. Nothing beats fine glass, regardless of which box it's mounted on.

I wouldn't take that for granted.
The only thing I would take for granted is that the higher price lens is always more expensive.

They are all manufacturers.
What is an "average hitter price". I do not understand.

Yes, to a certain extent.

The higher PRICE lens is always better. Better lens means better pictures. Don't be cheap.

"Always" is a big word.
It is a bit like "forever" and "best ever".
They have to be 100% correct, every single time, or else they are 100% wrong..
So clearly there only has to be one instance in the whole world, of a more expensive lens not being better than a cheaper option , for your statement to be 100% wrong.
Like I said - "always" is a pretty absolute sort of thing. It doesn't mean "mostly", it doesn't mean "generally", it means "always".

Will be interesting to see how the new Canon 10-18mm compares with the more expensive Tamron 10-24mm.
And I note that many consider the Sigma 150-500mm better than the more expensive Sigma 50-500mm lens.
Canon 300mm F/4 vs Canon 100-400mm?

I had a memory nagging at me about that username whiplash. I knew I had seen it somewhere. So I looked at some of your recent posts.
Turns out that this "great authority" on lenses, who can absolutely say that "the more expensive lens will always be a better lens" posted a question recently, wanting to know which lens would be best for taking photos of pens.

I would have thought that such a great authority on lenses would have known which lens to use, or would have just used "the most expensive one".

So .... its backed off from "always" to 99% now?
How did you arrive at 99%?
You are just plucking opinions and numbers out of your head without any real data or knowledge to back any of it up.
Generally speaking you are generally right, but that is a long way from what you are saying.

Thank you for that. It depends what you want to do with your lens.
