Can anyone explain "Why" a service such as Facebook that has an owner making more money than he will ever be able to spend in 3 lifetimes; is not able to provide "Help" and will never allow you to remove your account once started, and is allowed to sell or use anything you post as he sees fit. Oh one more thing, How do I convince my children that I do not need for every person on the face of the planet to know my personal business or want to know theirs.

If you go into your settings there is a deactivate account button. I know several people that have used it.

I use Facebook also to keep in touch with family and friends. It is a great way to talk with people on a video type link.

But I keep my number of friends to a small list and only in a private message is there ever anything personal written.

Far too many people post all day long. I do not know where they find the time

I enjoyed the post here--it sounds so familiar

I realize your intentions are honorable and honest but you do realize my posting was simply a JOKE don't you?

Basically it simplifies an ever changing world for older people who have no need or desire to get involved with the world of smart phones, computer literacy and so on.

Thanks for your input.

Dennis, I realized your were posting what in your opinion was a joke. Don't be so quick to hold us older folks in disdain, remember many of us were writing code when many of the young and not so young were busy putting quarters in the PacMan at the local grocery store. The younger folks of today blindly leap off into unfamiliar territory without the least bit of caution if for no other reason than it sounds neat, looks like fun or simply is the latest.

My remarks about Face Book were not intended as an attempt to high jack your post buy to hopefully spur one or two to questions as to why I would hold FB in such contempt. Sorry we got off on different paths there for a minute. Take care and enjoy the week end.

Not a problem. I am 68 years old and sometimes fit in with what the oldster was saying in the original post. Having said that I know many people older than I am who have studied computers, phones etc. and are really into the electronic world. I am just not one of them as many are not. I was not offended nor in any way did I think you were trying to hijack the post. You just seemed so adamant in your post I thought you thought it was a real post of todays electronic post. At any rate it was only in jest.

Right, I thought that was your intent. I just get fired up when talking about FB, my daughter and Grandson had some serious problems due to their involvement with it.
I see we share the same age, guess we are just a couple of old farts dogpaddling thru life, have a great evening.

I noticed, as the years went by in my Army flying career, the instruments for navigation were increasing in reliability and complexity and I seemed to be lagging behind in ability to use them. It also seemed to take the fun and adventure out of flying. Being able to look at a glass panel display and know exactly where you are when the twenty minute fuel warning light comes on sort of takes the fun out of aviation. sadly the passengers couldn't see the sweat pouring out as I argued with the copilot over where we were. Now days, if the navigation instruments fail, you just look at your iPad with the navigation app on it and you can even do Facetime with some putz in North Snowshoe Alaska. Yeah it was more fun to just drop down and read the town name off the water tower.:D :D
