Well Gene51, I have bungled this reply twice, now hopefully I will get this sent properly to answer your questions?

I like most any photography. But, the ol upper brain housing group tends to see the world as some kinda picture to take! Virtually everything to me looks to be in my shutter to be tripped/snapped! But, I do like to shoot candid portrait photography of people places and events.

Patterns, shapes, colors and angles are all neat to me too as to blend and provoke the senses!

Recently bought a D7100, as an upgrade from the D5200. Love it - but still learning as there are lots of options, bells & whistles. Picture quality is excellent. As said here, it's the best Nikon crop camera. Just know that a newer version is on the way, probably in the Fall. If you buy it, you will be a happy photographer.

Me too. My usual set up is the D7100 with Micro Nikkor 105g VR + Yongnuo 560iii Flash with softbox. I use an "L" bracket with the SC-28 or Hot Shoe the flash. Also add Kenko extension tubes or a the Raynox 250 which acts as a supplemental lens & clips to the front of the lens

So far I have enjoyed every minute w/my new D7100. It is fine to use and the pix results are fine too!

I like converting from color to black and white too! And, the IR capability is really nice too!

I have owned mine since last July and I love it. I doubt that I will ever replace it unless I a) Destroy it or B) Wear it Out.

I can't imagine a camera doing more for me than what this does that I would want it to.

I have the camera but didn't know about the IR feature. Will have to check this out.

The IR feature is located in the effects portion of the mode dial. It is neat to see what IR does during daylight. It looks like a different B/W photo. But, looks like B/W.

I wouldn't buy anything that expensive and advanced as a first camera. $1100 for just the body. Having too much money can be bad. If it is a logical choice compared to other cameras you have then go ahead.

Can buy a Factory Refurbished D7100 right now from Cameta for $919.00, possible from B and H as well.

Better camera, better price.

It's $1,146 new on amazon. Almost $250 savings. Good deal but for a camera I plan on keeping a long time I wanted new where I knew the shutter count. Just me.

Hello,
Planning on buying the Nikon 7100. Any comments! :)

What are you shooting now?? What is you experience level ?? Are you a good learner ?? What do you want to photograph ??

That all being asked and answered..... The D7100 is a fantastic camera if you are willing to take the time to learn how to use it and put the right lens on it ..............

I have a D610 & a D7100. The 7100 gets by far the most use. It is capable of outstanding photos. It deserves an equally good lens. Get a Nikon 17-55 f2.8 for it and you will never regret getting either.
