After taking terrible photos with a couple of P&Ss, my wife bought me a D80 as a 60th birthday present. She chose a Nikon because I'd been shooting with Nikon SLR's for the previous 40 plus years, and allready had a collection of lenses. It still is my go-to camera, although I plan to move up to a full framer later this year.

Canon T1i, needed lower light ability when #1 grandchild was born, before that my G-7 managed to do it all.

Nikon D300s. Started digital in 09. It is built like a tank and sealed for weather. All of my older lenses fit it. It is getting close to the shutter count now, so I am looking again. Was waiting for the D400 to come out. But I guess that is not going to happen.:(

The rumor mill has mentioned the D9300, which would be the D400 in the current numbering scheme. It's better than the old rumor of "in your dreams."

Nikon D70. I thought it was the first decent and affordable DSLR Nikon made. I still have it but haven't used it in years.
I had been shooting with Nikons since the early '80's and liked the brand.
Started with the kit 18-70 and a 70-300 ED lens. Never really used any of my "old" glass till I got the D300 & D700.
(My avatar was taken with the D70.)

My first SLR was a used Exacta II I bought at Peerless Camera in NYC at their "Gold Rush Sale" and I waited in line all night to get it.
That was in 1950. My first DSLR was a D200 because I could use the Nikon F lenses I accumulated over the years. I now have a D800 and a D7000 and I haven't regretted my original decision for a moment.

My first is a Canon D60 which I still have for a backup if needed.
At the time I chose it there wasn't many to choose from and it seemed to be the best for what I wanted in a digital. Since then I have I'm heavily invested in lenses, so Canon is stuck with me.

I now shoot with a pair of 50D's.

Mine was the Canon Digital Rebel 300D. It had the kit lens and a Tamron 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lens. It was a great little camera.

My first was the 300d, also. I still have mine and use it often.

My first DSLR was a Nikon D5100, bought 21 months ago from adorama.com.
I'd previously shot on a Konica Minolta A2 bridge camera; (8 megapixels, 7 x optical zoom), but it was getting old & well used, noise at 800 ISO was horrendous & technology was moving on & I therefore wanted to upgrade to a DSLR.
I looked at a few models at the time, decided one of the deal-breakers would be a Vari-angle screen, and short-listed to either the Canon EOS600D or the Nikon D5100; - The Nikon D5100 won - for a few reasons, - including costing a bit less. Very happy with it.

Kodak DCS ProSLR/n. It was the first full-frame-sensor DSLR for Nikon. 14MP, which still isn't too shabby, albeit its noisy low-light/available darkness performance lags miles behind all current models; it renders mid-tones and highlights beautifully.

I have the Nikon Ftn too, but it was not a D-SLR, "D" means digital!

I bought my first SLR in 1968. It can't even remember the company name. It was Japanese. I don't think the company is around any longer. I bought it along with Soligor lenses with my paychecks from a summer job.
