Mine was a Fuji S2. I bought it because the Nikon D100 was on back order everywhere at the time.

The image quality was really good in comparison, but the body was a snail.

In comparison, the Fuji S1 (my first DSLR) was a comatose snail, but really good color.
Went to the S2 then skipped to the Fuji S5, which I still use.
Amazing skin tones.

The first Canon 1D.
I seriously cringe when I think what I paid for that thing back in 2000 or 2001.
But I needed it for work and it did get the job done.

My very first DLSR was Canon Rebel XS. Few reasons. Partly was marketing. I was a p/s until about 2009. I always dug the name Rebel (some say my personality has rebel tendencies) and the price was right when I had seen it at BJS. Nothing Major. was a body with kit lens and sd card. the price was like 400 or something in that vicinity. The other reason was i wasn't sure I was going to stick with it. So it was a minimal investment. I have always done photography since I was 7 (i'm 34 now) and my attitude is to be the best (which obviously is subjective), so with that being said gotta have the tools (and the skills) to do just that. I knew a DLSR was better, per se, than a p/s But it is also much easier to carry a p/s around than a big dlsr! So thats when i took the plunge.

Now I have a canon 60d :D and no regrets!

Mine was a Nikon D80 recommended by a wedding photographer 6 years ago. I finally bought one, used, found on Craigslist for $225 with a kit 18-135 lens.
Still shooting with it and loving it. As it turned out the lens is damaged. You can see 2 pieces of plastic inside the lens that affect the autofocus (only when shooting portrait).
I've added a 28-70 lens also from Craigslist, this one is perfect.

My first was a Oly E-500 and 2 kit lenses. Later I was given an E-620 and loved it. Tried a Canon T3i and a Nikon D5200 and finally a little Pentax kx because I wanted to see if there was a huge difference in brands. Found they were all very nice and the results depended mostly on me.
I use them all from time to time, mostly the Nikon now. and the Pentax for perfect color.Well, for birding I like the E-620 . They're all good.

I was an avid film photographer 20-35 years ago. I still own all my equipment including Nikon film cameras and an array of manual focus lenses. This year the bug hit me and I dreamed of shooting digital with what I had, as I really could not create a new photography budget. After catching up on dslr's I broke down and bought a near mint, hardly used Nikon D200 to which I added a manual focus screen and since have added an 18-70 autofocus lens for general use and my old glass has new life covering anything else I want for low light, macro, short, medium, long telephoto, with one exception of very wide angle. I also picked up a used SB-600 as it didn't work out well enough with my old Nikon SB-16's. Balanced fill flash with the D200 was all but impossible to do manually and is very easy to do with the SB-600. All told about $400-$500 frugally spent and I'm back about where I left off with film, just where I wanted to be and it serves my needs.

My first DSLR was the original Canon Digital Rebel.
We were on a family vacation to Disney World and my Olympus IS 3 died the 2nd day in the park.
I bought the camera with the basic kit lens, a Sigma 28-300 (which I have since sold after I bought my 70-200 F/2.8) and a 430 EX speedlite that I still use as a slave unit when I do minor hockey player photos on ice.

Since then I've upgraded to the 40D (which is my current backup camera) and now have the 7D.

I still love the shots that I took in Disney World with the original Rebel and its whopping 5 Mega Pixel sensor.

I guess I am the odd man. A D7100 with and 18-200 and 35. I had not photographed anything seriously since 1963 when I had a Petri 2.8 and developed my own b&w film. I couldn't afford to shoot too much.

Mine was a Pentax *ist DS. Why, because in its price range, nothing else could compare to its build quality. I kinda still view Pentax cameras in the same light. They are very robust at there respective price points. Currently using a Pentax K-r.

sony a230 cause the man in the shop told me it was a great camera. After 5 years of learning finally upgraded it.
bought a canon on a whim - can't say it was as successful as the sony, but its the camera in the van. got the fuji to take pics of the family. I dont need a dslr sitting on a restaurant table to take pics to put on facebook, but don't have a mobile phone either. upgraded to a sonyslta65....so the a230 had its uses.

I was an early adopter back in 2001. I was already getting requests for digital files since publication was going digital and the internet was getting popular. I was tired of scanning film. Most pro quality digital cameras or digital backs were $20,000 to $30,000 back then. The most afforable option I could find was a Mamiya RZ67 (which I could also shoot film with) with a Magavision digital back. It was all of 6 megapixels, but that seemed great at the time. I think it was about $10,000 for the camera and the back. Amazing how far digital has come in that short period.

Nikon D5000

I had a couple bridge cameras before (Fuji and Panasonic) but coming from a Canon A1 I was not too happy with their picture quality and other limitations.

About 5 years ago I started looking for a DSLR to replace the Panasonic (FZ7) when I came across a refurb deal on the D5000.

I have been using Nikons ever since.

Canon Rebel t3i. I bought it because it's an entry level camera. I intended to use it for landscapes and wildlife. Then I got hooked on photography. I purchased L series lenses for it. I have been happy with it but I am ready for a better camera. Upgrading to the 70d. I may go full frame in a few years.
