Yes they are very difficult but I see them on a branch and them move to a corner of the screen opposite where they are looking and as soon as they start to fly hold down the shutter and hope for the best
Humm I may mention that to the owner of the farm re two boxes back to back .

I've seen places that have taken to putting two boxes on a post, back to back. The Tree Swallows take one side, the Bluebirds the other. The Swallows will not tolerate another Tree Swallow nest so close but will let the Bluebirds alone.
