What is the difference in P mode and auto mode
P mode, you put in your settings manually...shutter speed, apeture. Auto mode means just what it says...the camera selects shutter speed and apeture automaticly, depending on the scene you are shooting.

No, not exactly.
P mode allows some fine tuning like exposure compensation, white balance, contrast and color saturation, bracketing, flash power, neutral density filter, single or continuous shooting, and pixel size which is the only option you will have in Auto besides flash on or off. But the Camera chooses the Aperture and Shutter for you.
Both Aperture and shutter is also chosen automatically in Auto mode.
In Aperture the camera chooses the shutter that corresponds to the Aperture you choose.
In Shutter the camera chooses the Aperture that corresponds to the Shutter you choose.
In Manual, you need to choose both.
Thank you. It's nice to hear from young and agile minds. If I'm not responding properly, please advise me.
One advantage on the new G cameras in P mode is that you can shoot in Raw.. the G's also have a built in Neutral Density filter, if that hasn't been mentioned..
Great camera.. you never need to use green box auto with this camera..
Thanks for all the help. Wilbur
