Thank you - This girl is just naturally beautiful - she rarely wears makeup so it was important for me that they could see that as well. You nailed it - Natural :)

Nice pics and a very beautiful girl, just be aware of your specular high-lights as in pic 2 & 5. Just the tip of her nose is lit up which can be distracting. It's awesome that she doesn't wear make-up and you get a natural look, but due to no foundation you're gonna get some hot-spots as in pic #1. I always bring coffee filters to blot the skin and eliminate hot-spots, great little trick.

Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you so much. I went to college at 43 and up until then - rarely even took photos. My professor taught that if you are able to master natural lighting - you will have no trouble with studio lighting. We were also taught to learn to shoot in B&W since she wanted us to see the composition, balance and focus of each shot. I just loved her way of instructing us on the important issues first. We still keep in touch. I have to give props to Nancy Jean Rose for being so great at her job :) -

GREAT idea! I will certainly remember that. Next time - what to you think of me using a slight dusting of translucent powder - and then removing most it with a large fluffy makeup brush?

Thank you! I didn't take the Avatar photo - that was taken by my first photograher who I modeled for back in 1979 - William Penberthy from Zelienople, PA.

I'm not sure about this. I have a professional MUA who works for me on sets. As a professional courtesy, I typically stay out of the dressing room, lol. I may sit in on the next make-up session though, to see the techniques she uses. I would guess that any type of power that would absorb sweat or grease would work fine… just be sure to stay away from the sparkly stuff or you’re gonna find yourself using the healing brush in post a lot.

Yes... I use actual coffee filters, same thing you put in the coffee machine. You press them against the skin where you find hot spots from sweat and grease to absorb it all up. This way, you don't smear the make-up or redden the skin from abrasive rubbing. Blotting paper works better, but it's more expensive.
