May 1 is Law Day, a day set aside by the American Bar Association to "celebrate the rule of law."

USA TODAY Network lists silly, quirky or obvious state and local laws.

1. In Alabama, bear wrestling matches are prohibited.

2. Tennessee bans posting images that will "frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress."

3. In Collinsville, Ill., you could pay a $300 fine for wearing sagging pants.

4. In Mississippi, you cannot teach others about polygamy.

5. You can't slit someone's nose or bite off a limb in Rhode Island.

6. In Illinois, it's illegal to have sex with a corpse.

7. In Florida, it's illegal to sell your child.

8. North Carolina banned using the latest climate change science to help plan for coastal policies and sea level rise.

9. In Boulder, Colo., llamas, burros and mules are among the animals prohibited from grazing on city property.

Remember the majority of our Congressmen an Senators are members of that same bar.

So today is the one day of the year that *lawyers* obey the law?

You're gonna have to get another giggling monkey, Sarge.

You forgot that it's against the law to run cattle on goverment land without paying a fee. Some folks folks think that is a joke too. - Dave

Sorry, Sarge, but I don't find those laws all that quirky. They used to have laws like having to run ahead of your horseless carriage to warn horses. Now, that was quirky.

There still are some in the U.S. Sometime do a google search on 'blue laws'

CT has one where you have to have a friend walk 50 feet in front of you if you are driving a car with lights. So as not to scare the horses.

I went to school in Alva, OK for 1&1/2 yrs in the mid sixties. I was told that there was a law that said if you introduced a woman as your wife...she could hold you to it!

Guess I'm getting too damn old. None of this sounds like the May Day celebration I grew up remembering. Everything new and old seems to be turning into a progressive talking point. Guess its the new world order I can't get my head around these days. SeeYa.
