I have very little experience with wallet size photos as it is a very rare request for me but someone wants some.
What size is considered to be wallet size? Almost everything on the internet says 2.5 x 3.5. I printed out a sheet at that size, and there's no way anyone is getting those in their wallet. They are about double what looks like would fit into a wallet. Photoshop Elements Organizer does a nice job of organizing them onto a sheet at that size, so it would be really nice to go ahead and use that size. Organizer won't fit the smaller sizes correctly on an 8.5 x 11 sheet except for a 2 x 2.

Is something that big ok to call "wallet size"?
Do you think most people will be ok with that, or would they want something that really fits in a wallet?
Thanks!

Size of a typical business card will work.

Ok, That's about 2 x 3.25. I did a sheet at 2 x 3 and they are much closer to what would fit in a wallet, but I have to create a sheet manually. Organizer doesn't have that size automated.
Thanks for your reply! Not sure which way I'm gonna go yet.

Well, that would be much easier. I might just go with that and call it good. Sounds like this is the proper size, but that sure is big for a wallet... lol

Thanks!

Wallet sized means it will fit in the plastic inserts, and is about the size of a credit card. If you use 2 1/4 x 3 3/8, the size will work. My credit cards are 2 1/8 x 3 3/8.

You can also do it automated in Picasa for an 8.5 X 11

I'm using Photoshop Elements 10. I have an older version of full Photoshop. I don't know what the version is but I haven't installed it yet since I reinstalled Windows.
I went with the 2-1/2 by 3-1/2. Elements does a good job automating a sheet with that size. If it turns out that they are too big, I might look into Picasa and see if it can organize a smaller size on 8-1/2 x 11 sheets.

Thanks everyone!

The reason I asked is that Photoshop prior to cs4 comes with a feature:Photoshop/files/automate/picture package. With this you can fit images to a couple of wallet sizes that will fit on a 8x10. then just print it.

Maybe it is meant to be the same size as a wallet, rather than fitting in a wallet.

I print various things "wallet size," and I use the business card template. Regardless what the official size is, if it doesn't fit into the wallet, it's useless.

CREATIVE SOLUTION -- CAUTION!
1, If you crop your photo at the 4x6 crop then that is step 1.
2. Double the canvas width to 8" with the arrow showing the blank at left or right but certainly not in the middle. Now you have a blank space for another 4" image' Rename and save as name with canv2x suffix. (Yes, pay attention to where you save it.)
3. Open the original photo again and copy and paste on the blank canvas area... use pick/move tool to adjust size and position.
4. In layers, flatten the photo and save with suffix x2.
5. Now go to your friendly Walgreens when they have an 4x6 for 10Cents special. (NOTE: Not all Walgreens are equal, my pick has a dye sublimation and a tough lady photographer to make sure it prints right) Have the 2X printed. Now you have two wallet size photos. If they do not fit ... get a new wallet.

Lol, I never even thought of that. What if that's true???, then 2.5 x 3.5 would be closer to right. :-)
