You can get on the US.Gov web site and find a list of recent rule changes and what area of government they affect. So far in 2014 there have been 120 but this does not count the changes made by the multiple Tsar agencies that have mandated changes without regard to congressional oversight. They also do not include those changes created by the President a stroke of his pen. Most damaging from a cost standpoint are EPA and ACA.Those that apply to small business application are also tough on an important part of the economy. As it applies to spending vs austerity I would say that a 50 gallon barrel will in fact only hold 50 gallons and to say otherwise is bad money management. Tax and spend cannot possibly end well because taxing produces nothing for the most part. No goods are produced that earn money to replace the taxes for the most part. I agree that infrastructure will create jobs for the short run, but a bridge has no capacity to earn after it is finished, whereas capital invested in manufacturing has the ability to do both and putting regulatory and unnecessary rules on free enterprise tends to keep capital from investing. We see that now, as Corporations are sans to invest and are loaded with cash and that does not create jobs. Anyway, you and I, no matter how well intentioned will not solve the problems, but it does not hurt to discuss.

Off the top of my head I think during the Eisenhower admin the top tax rate was around 90%..for those aquiring over 3M per year. When Reagan took office wasnt it something like 70%?
Now I think the top rate is around 39% with capital gains being 15%.
The fat cats benefit enormously from the low cap gains tax rate and basically do nothing to earn it other than be in the position to sit on wealth. Increase capital gains rates on a scale similar to tax on earned imcome.
At some point a person no longer earns ...money makes money sort of like growing dandelions in your lawn. Not a whole lot of effort is required as long as the seeds land on the ground.
There is plenty of room to increase taxes. With automation and outsourcing profits are soaring while demand for labor is reduced. Reality is population will continue to increase since there is no one addressing the issue and more services will be needed.
There is no justification for 400 individuals in this country to have assets greater than 60% of the entire populations (around 190,000,000).
There is no way an individual needs or can even use that kind of wealth except for manipulation and pursuit of personal power.
Raise the top tax rate significantly and use the proceeds to pay down debt and support infrastructure projects, public works etc. Enough needs to be done to keep things rolling for years.
Offer significant deductions for investments in things that would promote manufacturing and job stimulation here in the states.
At some point like it or not tax rates will likely have to be raised across the board (including middle class) to maintain current levels of services.
Impose tarrifs on imports to make it more attractive to manufacture here, and less attractive to outsource while the US is still a main market place (or dumping ground) for manufactured goods.

Shut the hell up SBW and stop calling people liars and racists. You're an ignorant windbag and therefore just another useful tool for the extreme right. They espouse what you want to hear and just like a fool, you swallow it hook, line and sinker. You're a dolt and have no place in a civil and intelligent debate. It's a wonder you know how to breathe.

He IS a liar and a racist. And I will not shut up. Does it ever bother you liberals just even a little bit when someone lies to further an agenda? It is simple, just tell the truth. You low life liberals think that if you advance a lie enough times then it becomes true. That is perverted. And you are perverted for buying into it.

58% of Fox New's viewers are 68 or older. Their viewership is dropping like an elevator among those 24 - 50.

But what of the deficit that is exploding and seemingly will continue to do so at the present level of more than $17 trillion?Gold is at $1,300 and ounce today. There is a reason for that to be. Increasing taxes will probably not scratch this issue of money we owe. Inflation has begun to kick in even as the economy remains sluggish and the inflation will surely drive interest rates up piling more debt on top of the rather monster amount we owe now. The most recent calculation is $193,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. I don't know about you, but my wife and I do not have $400,000 in cash to contribute to the cause. Detroit was able to file for bankruptcy, but the US can't do that. So how is it that we can continue to feed the Elephant in the room all the while we keep spending as if we were sailors on shore leave. There is no amount of tax money increases that will take care of this in my opinion and that of many economists. As a nation we are quite simply whistling by the graveyard.

Please clear this up for me. Can you list any specific cases of Fox News lying about anything? Can you also provide data that shows a drop in Fox news listeners? I must be missing something, because I can't seem to find any of it. So if you have no real support for what you claim, why are you claiming same?If you cannot come up with some real facts one might suggest that you may have a problem with what you are reporting.

Hamtrack, I believe you are going to be disappointed. These people do not deal in facts. They throw stuff out there and hope that no one checks. Then when you do a show the real facts they cannot handle it.

Facts are re the teaparty.
It was basically started and is still funded by the Kochs.
Kochs agenda is well known and easily verified. Look at DK's 1980 platform.
Kochs have come out and said if recipients of their funding do not toe the line they withdraw funding.
So the teaparties survival in a large part depends on pleasing the Kochs.

It doesnt matter what the "public release" of what the teaparty wants Americans to believe their platform/goals are. Thats like asking a burgler to prosecute himself.
We know what they are up to.

So there will have to be some cuts. How about starting with our bloated military....the one thats already larger than all the forces in the rest of the world combined.

Here is an interesting article...but its a little short on details.
http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/tax-reform/report/2012/12/04/46689/reforming-our-tax-system-reducing-our-deficit/
>"And, in fact, our tax system is progressive. But over the last several decades, the trend has been to ask less and less of those at the top."
>"Of course deficit reduction will not be limited to tax reform. Spending reform will also be necessary."

Theres another link at the bottom of the page. I have to run so dont have time to read it closely right now.

I don't believe no one checks. Fact checking by both sides of the political equation have made it a sport. If Fox were putting out bad info, you can bet that the boo birds would be all over it, and in the main stream howling for weeks. All I hear is one liners from individuals holding bad sign work. When you have the Washington Post issuing 4 Pinocchio's on the President I doubt they would leave Fox out of the melee. If anyone hates Fox, it is certainly the White House. We will see if I hear back from my challenge.

What bald faced liar you are. You state that the US military is larger than the rest of the world's put together. Where do you get this wild information? Or do you just as usual make stuff up and throw it out there. Once again you have told a lie. Just China's military by itself is three times the size of ours. Three times the size. Here is a list of the world's military by country and their size in man power. Since you are a Marxist I am sure that you were already aware of this. You really do hate our armed forces don't you. You sniveling idiot. What a liar.

Read this, that is if you can read>
