Spring Baby Lamb

I was coming home from town today when I noticed a sheep laying down in a pasture, is was lambing. I did have a camera with me, but not a long enough lens, but I still turned around and went back to grab a shot. 10 minutes after birth it was standing and starting to suckle while its momma was cleaning it off. Umbilical still attached and bright red.

Good photo! The black ones are especially cute. I love to see a group of baby lambs with their moms, frolicking about. There is often one fluffy black one among the fluffy white ones.

What a wonderful shot, certainly heart warming and shouts of spring. Oh that all labors were that quick!

Great capture! Wonder how many others drove right by and missed something so beautiful?

Thank you for sharing, I love it.

Thank you for this rare picture on this peaceful day. It's a great counterpoint to think that on this day every family in the Mediterranean celebrates the end of a 40-day fasting by roasting a spring lamb on the spit (they are born a month earlier). Their excuse is that they have an overpopulation of them, they only keep the females for milk and butter and a few males.
Happy Easter everyone :)
