I'm preparing to start my eBay retail business . My camera experience is limited so need lots of advise. I've reviewed some recommendations about features necessary, but need advice on a specific camera to purchase. Should I consider a refurbished one? My top price would be around $300.00.
All advice appreciated.
My name is Larry Neubrech and I just joined. My photography experience is limited to basic point and shoot. Heck, I have trouble trying to put photos on Craigslist . I blame it on my old Olympus digital camera. All help will be appreciated.
Welcome here Larry. You will find a search facility top of this page where many of your questions will have many answers. You would be better served looking for a second-hand camera for your budget and there is a used section on this forum. Good luck and if you don't find the answers you want don't hesitate to ask, this is a friendly and helpful place.
Thanks. I'll check out Search.
Wow that is a big fish. What kind of a fish is it? I fish for trout, salmon and halibut , mostly in the salt water straits between the coast of Washington state and Vancouver Island Canada. Halibut season begins on May 9. Trout fishing is done in my home state of Montana.

For posting on ebay, you don't need a fantastic camera, just a good setup and technique. Almost any point and shoot will get you usable images. You'll want good lighting and an area where you can do your shooting, depending on the size of the items. Get a tripod, too.
Take a look here.

Larry, welcome to the hog, a good place for all the info you will need. Jerry is amazing for always having the right answer or gives you good info as a place you can find things, (amazes me how it does it) but good stuff, have a great time and learn all you want and to get good, keep shooting.........good luck
For eBay, craigslist sales, camera less important than lighting. Suggest perusing YouTube for DIY light boxes, with lighting set-ups. Suggest picking up a used tripod which is a must. Jerry nails it again.

For Ebay product shots, the thing you need most is good lighting and a good tripod. Most any decent point-and-shoot camera will produce good Ebay pictures. You can look on Ebay, and lots of sellers will fix you up with inexpensive table-top tent-like things with lighting, or lighting other systems which make life much easier.

Jerry,
Thanks. Info is very helpful. Now to determine which one.
First of all Larry think about what you are doing most with your photography. Do you have certain hobbies so are taking pictures pretty much of certain things or are you going to be going a lot to track meets for a family member (son, daughter, niece, nephew, or grandkid) so will want to catch them in running mode at a long distance. After you ask yourself those questions or tell us what your certain hobbies are with doing the work with your camera we can better help you with the suggestions of what you will want to get. I know for myself I am a true Auduboner and want to get birds at a long distance. I did take suggestions from people in MSN Groups way back when there were those groups. Now though since I have gotten into the photography I really think that I should have gotten a different one 'cause when I was at the point that I wanted to purchase the attachment for the camera I was not really able to get as good of one probably that I could have gotten if I would have gotten a different type. Also I now would have known better that I should have gotten a camera with a better "shutter-speed" to catch the birds in flight better or to get the kids better when they are running at the track meets or even just playing, or even the cats when they are playing with each other it would get the boys playing "birdie" better when they jump up at the feather-like cat toy. So just don't rush yourself in the purchase. Do a lot of research and asking questions at your local stores and in the online groups or even if you are into birding with the people of your local Audubon.
