Here's my best of 500 :-D

Nikon D7100 / Nikon 70-200 f/2.8
PocketWizard Plus III's (for remote triggering)
Tripod
ISO 400, f/2.8, 2 seconds, 200mm @ 02:46:30 Central Time

Longer exposure times were blurred - didn't realize the moon moved as fast as it does!

Also, not real sure I'll stay up this late next time unless it's a weekend... dragggggging today!

Beautiful shots!

Good thread Brent I'm a little surprised at how few "Blood Moon" photos have been posted. I'm hoping to attach a chart I found of the skies last night. Mars was indeed close to the eclipse and at the closest point to us in the last 7 years. I lost the site where I took this from so sorry I'm not able to give proper credit but it was from a Google search for "Mars Eclipse". We had relatively clear skies until the eclipse started then some haze/thin clouds blowing through.

... tonight Mars and the Earth will be just 57 million miles apart. While that won't get you as close to the red planet as the Curiosity rover, it's the closest the two planets have been in seven years.

I have never been good taking moon shots but I tried. Hard for me at night to focus, so I set it near infinity. Used a 400mm lens set at f11, Played around with the iso and shutter speeds. Most photos were too dark and out of focus. I guess I need to get a better idea of what do do to prepare for these shots. I should have used my remote shutter release but forgot to put it on.

Here's my humble attempt. Yes the clouds where in SoCal. The moon was almost directly over head....how I wish I had a articulating screen!!!!

Wow, all you UHH'rs have made some spectacular shots of the blood moon. I am fascinated by the moon and I have a quest of my own to shoot the 'perfect' moon. We were under cloud cover last night so I couldn't shoot it and tonight it should be worse than last night. So keep shooting; I am enjoying looking!

My favorite so far, but there are quite a few excellent shots here. You guys and gals are awesome! I tried but haven't had time to get them off the camera. Will post later when I can.

No that is not Mars. Mars was about 5deg to the upper right and out of range of my lens, I tried but could not get it in.

Had high thin clouds all night making the eclipse difficult at best to photograph. But here are a few I was able to get.

BTW, great idea Brent, thanks for putting this together.

After being told that the eclipse would not be visible in Alaska, you could imagine my surprise, when at 11:30pm, we looked out and saw the moon out our bedroom window. Needless to say, we threw on our clothes, grabbed the camera, and headed for a better vantage point. This isn't the best picture in the world, but it's the best I could do with the kit lens.
