Any advice? Just bought a new iMac. Switching from PC
Anyone have any caveats or info on switching over to an iMac from a PC?
I predict that after about two weeks, you'll wonder why anyone
uses a pc. Enjoy it!
Great Reference. Thank you!!!

Say goodbye to viruses! :D
You will soon be delighted. Should you encounter any difficulties with the operating system, don't hesitate to call Apple and leave a call back number. Their support is the best in the world. Have fun.

I completely agree!! Their support is the best in the world!
Look up David A Cox utube videos. They are free, cover many subjects that new Mac users need to learn, and he is a very good teacher. I switched about a year and a half ago and I have not had one virus yet.

You won't regret it. I made the switch after using PCs and Windows from the time they were released (30+ years). Finally got fed up with the viruses, etc. and switched to an iMac 4 years ago.

First and foremost, buy Apple Care as there will be many times you will have questions and these people are simply, sensational. Second, sign up for a class at an Apple Store.....learn the aspects regarding the OS that appeal to you. Third, find an inexpensive book about OSX--- now called Mavericks. Lastly, say goodbye to computer confusion and finally enjoy computing.
Congratulations! Remember all those updates you had with a PC? You've kissed those good-bye! Enjoy your Mac. :)
I love my Macbook Pro, but I have had quite a few upgrades/updates on the operating system since I bought it a couple of years ago. However, no big deal on that. It works beautifully and is easy to use and very reliable.
I also have a PC and I find it useful to have both. The PC has MS Office on it and I don't have it on the Mac.

Basically, try not to crap your pants when you turn it on and realize how amazingly awesome it is. I just bought my second one...a 27-incher with fusion drive. Fast, intuitive, elegant. Photography and video applications work and look great on iMacs.
Seriously though, they do have some upgrades you can add when designing it. Consider adding RAM, storage and the faster processor. This will last you many, many years, so spend he money up front to make sure it is set for all the software and photos you will be putting into it.
One last thing...if you are anywhere near an Apple store, spend the $99 for their One-to-One service where you can take it in and sit there with one of their guys and learn all about it in a personal training session. That service is available for a year to you and you can schedule as many of those sessions as you want.
If nowhere near their stores, well their Apple Support call center is equally amazing. I spent two hours last week on the phone with one of their guys as he patiently walked me through the process of migrating my files from my old 2008 iMac to my new one. They had different versions of the OS, so there were some issues, but he stuck with me until we figured it out and got it all moved. He never gave up until I was happy with everything. It is a great company for both it's design but also it's support. Welcome to the club.

Amen. Should have switched 30 years ago!
Adding RAM and external hard drives is more economical thru a company like Other World Computing(OWC); Small Dog Electronics, or LA Computers, rather than paying the higher prices at Apple- products are warranted too. Go to the Apple website and search for MUG(Mac User Group) to see if there is one near you.
