Have a great time. Lots of good times out there. I am thinking about heading out there in the winter time. To me, winter is magical
YOU DON'T REALLY NEED TO GO TO THE PARKS, ALTHO I DO RECOMMEND THEM. GO ALONG THE RIVER ROAD AND YOU MAY FIND LONG HORNs THERE. GO TO CASTLE VALLEY AND THE LaSALLE MNTNS. ALSO GOOD SCENERY. THEN HIT THE PARKS. THERE ARE PLENTY OF TRANSPO COMPANIES AVAILABLE. I LIVED IN SE UTAH [CASTLE VALLEY, MOAB] FOR 9 YEARS. NORHTERN UT ISN'T THAT MAJESTIC EXCEPT IN WINTER. GO SOUTHEAST. YOU CAN BURN UP SEVERAL MEMORY CARS THERE!
Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands National Parks have scenic drives by which you can view their natural beauty, without every leaving your car. If you can walk under a 100 feet, you may stop at viewpoints for more sights.
I have been to each of these national parks, and speak from experience.
From what I gather, other national parks have scenic drives for viewing the sights from your car.
Red Rock Canyon NCA near Las Vegas offers a scenic drive that takes the visitor to various viewpoints. But just driving the road brings plenty of natural beauty to the visitor.
Enjoy!

Certainly, if you can walk a bit, you will get more and better views of the scenery, but there is certainly much to be seen through your windshield. I've jokingly said many times after walking a mile or so into the scenery, that I didn't know why they didn't put the road back here.
Don't get me started on roads. I saw something in Yosemite the still gets my dander up.
Yiu HAVE to go to Bryce. This is why.

Do not miss Monument Valley! It is truly awe inspiring!

The sights in all Utah National Parks or State Parks are worth your time. We love going there;
View from Rainbow Point; awesome
Don't miss Arches,Canyonlands and Moab area. Spent 10 days there and it was awesome. Take as many trails as possible, go to Dead Horse Point at sunrise. Check out the petroglyphs in Moab area. A photographers dream. Get info on best times to shoot which areas, they are available online and at visitors center.
Have a great time!

While you are in the area check out
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Although open to 4-wheelers, if you are lucky and your visit is immediately following a good storm the dunes are very nice.
My daughter & I are going to the Grand Canyon in June from KC via the Santa Fe Trail, cut over to Old Bent's Fort, Durango & go south out of Moab. I'm taking notes on where to go in Utah (& any ideas from Arizona, New Mex, Texas & Oklahoma would also be helpful)!

Skip Zion unless its on the way as most points of interest are a long hike. You can get some good views just driving through though.
Bryce canyon can be seen for the most part from developed pull outs.
You can see a fair bit driving through capital reef.
Arches has a lot of easy access view points.
You can get close to a fair number of viewpoints at the island in the sky area of Canyonlands.
Moab area would be a good place to book a motel.

Going to Utah to see the National Parks...
Moab is a great starting point to see Canyonlands and Arches Natl Parks. Both have lots of great sights you can see from the car, or that might need a short walk. Depending on how adventurous you are, you might consider renting a Jeep to explore such exciting and photogenic spots such as Elephant Hill in Canyonlands, which takes you to an overlook of the the confluence of the Colorado River and Green River and also has a great view of The Needles. Or take a spin on the Slickrock Trail in Moab. I've done both of these, and more, by rental Jeep and on my own off-road motorcycle and had just loads of fun.

Obtain Laurent's Guide to Photographing the Southwest, Vol. 1. Utah. Also Goggle photographing each National park. There are an abundance of articles on the various Parkks.
Happy hunting.

I'm sorry, Bob. I certainly didn't mean to "hijack" anything. I've oftentimes seen posts here such as mine & no one seemed to have a problem with it. That's why I thought it was ok. I apologize & it won't happen again.
