I think the first one is by far the better, great shot! 8-)

Number one elicits many captions, such as "you smell", or "kiss a frog"...I definitely like it better.
#1 you have more of the dogs nose in the shot and it is closer to the toad leading your eye right into the picture.

I agree, number 1....The dog seems more interested. In 2 it appears to be pulling away
#2 in my opinion. The dog is starting to get curious as it wants to get closer.
I agree that the first shot is better. Not only does it have better composition, but it also has a little more contrast (the second shot looks a little flat to me).

I think this is 2 shots from a 3 shot seqnence. #2 is actually #1... #1 is actually #2... #3 was not shown because the dog ate the frog!
I love it! Frog legs anyone?
The first photo is better. In the second shot, it looks like it's a photo about a frog than needed cropping. In the first shot, the two animals go together... and you're telling the viewer a story. The dog adds interest... the two being so close is provocative... will the frog jump? is the dog going to try to eat it? Is the frog a pet of some little boy and the dog knows it? First shot much better.

I agree, I like #2 better. The frog looks like the subject and the dogs nose just gives it a story of approach.
Number one for sure...great.
