My first good butterfly shot using the Tamron 150-600mm lens.

Today, about 1 hour ago, I shot this small butterfly resting on our cherry bud (Bing Cherry Tree). I measured the Bud at 1" in diameter making the small butterfly about 1-1/2"- 1 3/4" compared to the cherry bud.
The butterfly was 21 feet in distance ( I measure this carefully).
I used the Tamron 150-600mm @ 600mm focal setting.
The butterfly fluttered off after 5 seconds. I don't know the name of this butterfly.
I only used the contrast and crop tools.
Canon 6D - Tamron 150-600mm @ 600mm - 1/640 - f/10 - ISO @ 640.

Thank you, NKN Rky, for your kind comment. I haven't used this lens on butterflies and other insects before, so I am experimenting with a lens that's not suited for these insect captures to prove to myself that this can be a more versatile lens. It is sharper than I thought it would be for insects.

I agree with you, Bill. I was surprised about the detail. It just nice to know it is not only a bird and wildlife lens but it can be used for insects to some degree. A true Macro lens will do a much better job. This was taken in my backyard and I know these measurements are accurate.
