One's opinion of the HP is pretty much irrelevant in this matter, unless one has data which contradicts what was reported. If their facts were incorrect, then by all means point us to the link showing the alternative facts that contradict what was reported.

I wonder if there's been an increase in food sales in direct correlation to the legality of weed? 8-)
Mainstream reports about Cannabis, it's usage, it's affects and how the public is dealing with it's new regulations, are always going to be controversial, just like alcohol was, back in the day.
In my opinion, there will always be a few that try to take advantage of locations where cannabis is kept, but after so many of these types of occurrences, the industry will take the necessary and correct steps needed to clean~up this problem.
With any type of new anything, there will always be bugs that need to be worked~out, in the beginning.
Sometimes it takes situations like this to get things straightened out and headed in the right direction, learn from your mistakes.
Cannabis is coming to our society, you all just don't know it yet. It's already partially in 25 States in the U.S. Fully in Was. and Col.
Just like anything new, it's going to have nay~sayers and uneducated people shoot off at the mouth about something they don't know about, reports of of isolated incidents and general lack of knowledge, try to stir peoples thinking in the opposite direction.
I am a retired Wild~land Fire Fighter, that worked for the California Dept. of Forestry, for many years, climbed all over mountains and helped putting out fires all over Northern Calif.
I use Medical Cannabis to relieve most of the pain I incurred while protecting many people and their homes, from fires. I also use it to treat my cancer.
I am not an activist for Cannabis, I just legally use it to improve the quality of my life. I'm 57. Drive a brand new truck, paid off and own three homes that are paid off.
It has in no way, shape or form kept me from achieving my dreams. Just relieved the pain and stress, from everyday life.
Does this make me a bad person? No. Or a criminal? No. I pay my taxes and all my property is insured. Can I still function? Yes I can. Am I enjoying my retirement, Yes. Am I living the American dream, you betcha.
Hmmm, not one mention of the young student that was given a pot laced cookie and he immediately started acting strange and lunged out a window to his death. Does this happen to all or half or 10%? Of course not, but I truly believe it did in this case and that is why more research needs to be done. This is not a ++ for Colorado!
A very unfortunate isolated incident. Sorta like when sports fans have too much to drink and fall to their deaths in Baseball, Soccer and Football stadiums, all over the world. Very sad. We were not there, we don't know the real facts about this, second hand info, at best. Maybe he tripped and fell, who knows.
Colorado is so under the microscope and the news media is all over everything related. To be expected, I guess.
Could you imagine what alcohol prohibition back in the day would have been like, with our news media coverage nowadays. Pretty scary, to say the least.
More research is being done, several government agency's already have research facility's, growing and studying the plant, in several locations thru~out this country.
The world patented ingredient, Cannabidiol - CBD the main medical ingredient in Cannabis, is owned by the United States Government and has been since the early 1800's.
Give it time, Dirtpusher. Give it time. It is still only an infant!

have never heard of pot being the reason for jumping out of a window ever, been around it since the 60's. now angel dust has been known to produce that effect. and some the new modern chemical products, that i wouldn't even put on my skin let alone ingest it. hell sometimes you would have to wake the person up, if they smoked to much pot, to get them to jump out a window. lol he would probally look at you and say nah, man i'm good.. lol
