Yepee! I like these guys and I throw bread at them. Anyway the keep coming to eat from the bird feeder and they scratch and ruin it. Now I have surveillance cameras and can check them out at night. These came at daylight, which is very rare, first time. I know I shouldn't feed them or else they will keep coming but he looked like he needed some grubbing, and he was very shy and young.

Should I keep feeding?

But you know you are going to. I know I would. I have a canoe hanging from my ceiling out in the garage, there's been a coon family leaving in it for years.

None of you have lived until you have had a family of Raccoon's break into your house at 2 am, by ripping a screen (metal) apart and entering the house.

They're cute....I like # 1 the best. :O) My brother and sister in law bring their feeders in at night to prevent the critters from damaging them. They have coons, but they have more problems with bears. They've come up a few times and just grabbed the feeder and left.

NO! Do NOT feed them...you WILL be sorry...no matter how CUTE they are!
Even with corn fields behind us, we get raccoons & yes, bear too. They will eventually tear up everything in sight if you keep feeding. Our state of Vermont is already putting out warning alerts against leaving bird feeders outside at night.

I, too have committed this error but I did get some great shots as you did. I don't feed the moochers any more.

Not to mention that they carry rabies. Don't know if you have pets or not. They can also get quite mean and yes, as others have said, they will tear up anything. On one camping trip they ripped the rubber gasket out from around back window of station wagon and tried to pull a bag of trash through it.
