I have looked into these two camera and them having the things i would need for what i would like to do. Ive seen the details of the cameras. But now i would like to know people's opinions on them. And which (if you have used both) you consider to work better. I create vlog videos, sports action shots, and im not sure what to call it but i take just my friends and use them as models. Any opinion you have is helpful thanks!

You are comparing 2 very different cameras here, the T3i is a "crop" sensor camera and the D600 has a full size sensor. They are both capable of recording video but the price tags are also very different. Both are good cameras and will do the job it just depends on what you want to spend to get it done.

The 600 is twice the camera the T3i is. But are you willing or have the time and patience to fully maximize all of it's capabilities

If your budget can handle the cost difference the D600 is by far the better of the two cameras. Just a couple benefits of the D600 are that it's a full frame camera, 24 mp vs 18, ISO range, frames per second. Take a look here and see if this helps. As for quality they are both fine cameras but the D600 will offer more features as well as more flexibility and it will take you a long time to outgrow the D600...JMHO of course.

I can't speak for the T3i, but the D600 is one heck of a camera. I have one. It has a multitude of automatic and specific scene settings that'll get you acclimated and shooting great images with it fast. As well as all the manual settings too. Most of the more commonly used adjustments are thoughtfully placed where you can get to them easily.
One full frame advantage you'll notice is the ability to take larger images and crop them down without loosing clarity. I also really liked how the D600 felt in my hand. I would go to Best Buy or a similar store and handle the two and see which one "feels" the best also.
Good Luck.

D5, welcome to the Hog.
If those are your only choices, get the 600 before you change your mind!! Even if the 600 starts pumping oil, it's on official recall and you can get it fixed.
But in the same price range is the Canon 6d, which has a feature set that may be well suited to your style, since it also has WiFi and GPS. Plus it's low light focus ability, the most sensitive if any camera, might lend it to more creative model shooting using existing light.
Again, welcome and good luck. ;-)

Are you getting a particularly good deal on the Nikon D600 to make the prices competitive? If so, it is almost certainly because of the history of oil spots on the sensor with the D600. As SharpShooter said, there is a recall from Nikon of the camera has a problem so you should be protected.

SS also mentioned the Canon 6D, which is comparable to the Nikon D600/D610. These cameras are three levels above the T3i in the Canon line-up, so it's no contest.

Good point. Make sure any D600 you get comes with documentation showing that Nikon has serviced it.

Dang it!

My D600 never pumped oil and at around $100 per barrel I feel that I missed out on a good thing.

Seriously though, welcome to the Hedgehog.

As someone else pointed out you are doing a lemon to grapefruit comparison. The D600 is much more camera than the T3i and you should really be comparing the D600 to a much more capable Canon.

Whatever you decide -- enjoy!

Jerry
